Water pump failures on 2008 or later?

It seems like most of the water pump failures are on 2006-07 cars. Was there a change in design and/or supplier at some point? I have a 2008 328xi but with a 10/07 build date.
TIA!

bump for responses. Does anyone know if there was a change in the water pumps after 2007? I am trying to decide if I should change it at 100K. Thanks

I dont think that they changed the design. I'd just be weary of the fact that it may inevitably occur and look out for what will happen if the water pump goes.

I see that you're in LI, if you dont have an indy shop I know a guy that can do the work for cheap

Easiest way to answer your question is go on realoem.com and cross reference the part number for the water pump across 06-07 and 08 models. If they used the same part for all years I would expect 08's to have the same issue as they approach 70k miles

Good idea! I did that and the part numbers changed in June 2006 and then again in July 2008 (which is the beginning of LCI production). So I guess my water pump is suspect. My CPO warranty expires in November 2013, so I am trying to figure out what to do. The car has been absolutely trouble free so far.

BTW- N54 water pump has a different part number
