wheel protector

Im taking delivery on Friday!!! anyways, I remeber someone talking about putting some protectant on the wheels to prevent brake dust issues. I have the zaino kit with z2 and z5 pro but do I use that on the wheel. If not can someone suggest a protectant that you can get at canadian tire something that I dont have to order because I dont have the time.

You can use zaino or wheel wax. It doesn't really protect you from brake dust but will help you clean them off.

If you're brake dust averse the only viable solution is aftermarket pads...you don't want those brake covers.

I went yesterday to a Pep Boys. Saw it on here. Wheel sealant. Could not find it. Saw Penzoil wheel cleaner with brake dust inhibitor(sp). Did not spend the $. Sealant supposedly allows you to rinse the dust off w/o having to wipe and wipe like I am doing now. Driving me cookoo.

Poorboy's has a wheel sealant. I haven't tried it yet but I generally like Poorboy's sealants.

On a side note, you can just use any paint sealant/wax although the sealants will probably last longer. I just use paint sealants because I have bought and experimented with so many different waxes/sealants I have extra bottles laying around that I don't use. IMO, if you have extra bottles of other stuff, just use that and save some money.

edit: I did find a post where Picus seems to like the PB's sealant. Damn, just when I thought I wasn't going to buy new product. I'll have to try it when the sealant I'm using for my wheels run out (currently Wolfgang).

I use the Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, too. It's great stuff. I applied it once in November (2 coats) before I put my winter wheels on, and brake dust still rinses off without scrubbing, despite the wheels having been subjected to a winter's worth of New England road salt/sand/weather, etc.

I was under the impression that the sealant or wax would prevent the break dust from causing corrosion to the wheels finish. Is that a legit concern or just being paranoid.
