N55 exhaust question
Hey guys. I'm new to the forums and have a coupe of quick questions. I have an N55 335XI coupe and I recently installed AR catted downpipes, The car's still too quite for my taste however. I am looking into this exhaust by Magnaflow:http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=all&id=8978. My question is this: Since the XI coupe has secondary cats, will I fail inspection in New York since I assume the exhaust setup I want removes the cats and would leave me with only the high flow cat? Also, what do you guys think of that setup? Thanks for the help.

I don't know the question, but Vanguard is the answer.

Yeah I actually wanted the vanguard exhaust but I was told that it doesn't fit the XI but since I changed my downpipe the ar one with a high flow cat, I'm wondering if I'll still pass inspection if I remove the secondary cats..

If you remove them I'm pretty sure you'd fail like a sniffer. But im pretty sure its all digitally read through obd. So get a tune that deletes codes

Well I have the jb3 stage 1 with OBDII code reader so I think I'm good there, but from what I see the n55 xdrive coupes' only difference is the mid pipe cats. So wouldn't the vanguard exhaust still fit?

Any exhaust that is made to fit with factory downpipes will 100% work with our downpipes. Send me a PM with any exhaust that you are interested in for price quotes.

Which is why I went with AE since their exhaust was meant for XI cars. It's getting installed Saturday. |

can somebody help me understand my cars exhaust system...
I know what downpipes are and exhausts, but wth are high flow cats? If I go AR dp cat'd, would I then have an option of high flow cats? would it pass smog?

As for the option of high flow cats, you have several options depending on brands. Some downpipes only come in catless, and some exhaust systems only come in catless. Catted downpipes & Catted exhaust Catted Downpipes & Catless Exhaust Catless Downpipes & Catted Exhaust Catless Downpipes & Catless Exhaust In theory, you should be able to pass emissions even after deleting one set of cats (Either in the dp's, or exhaust), but every car/state is different so no manufacturer can really guarantee that. If you are interested in deleting one set of cats, I would personally get catless downpipes and retain the secondary cats in the exhaust. You will get better flow (Faster spool up, power increase etc) and still should pass emissions. I will get some quotes for you. Unfortunately AMS no longer makes an exhaust system for the 335/135. They discontinued it several months ago. |
