STATUS REPORT ON YOUR

Serial Number 1165030809

V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.8-POP2 with Euro Mode. This is our latest and best performer on both radar and laser, lacking only the crystal-controlled frequency tuning of later units to safeguard the limits of band coverage. Later V1 versions also include ESP (Extended Serial Protocol), and Traffic Monitor Filter, a critically important feature if you drive on highways where the SpeedInfo system is used to monitor traffic flow.

Check out the reviews on some of the radar detector forums, but general consensus seems to be that the only real alternative to a V1 for a stick on the windshield type detector is the Escort Redline. V1 has been the standard for ages and ages. Redline supposedly is less likely to false alarm but V1 is sometimes preferred for wide open highway.

I've had my V1 for over 10 years and love it. I finally sent it back in for an update last year. Unfortunately I live in VA so am only running it when not in VA or MD but it has accurately informed me of the presence and location of cops running radar several times since I got it back. (I didn't use it for quite a while as I had a job with a company car and using a RD in one would have been grounds for termination.)

Forgot to add, no affiliation w/ seller etc.

Don't take it the wrong way of course, but based on V1's website, it's a tad behind on firmware version. When the serial was entered, it says an optional upgrade for $199 was available. Selling this unit @ $300 vs. a complete new unit w/ all accessories/etc @ $399 is almost a given. I wouldn't dare tell you what price, but just letting you know what prospective buyers may be factoring in 'behind the scene' and why you haven't sold this unit yet. Hope this helps and good luck .

"crystal-controlled frequency tuning of later units to safeguard the limits of band coverage. Later V1 versions also include ESP (Extended Serial Protocol), and Traffic Monitor Filter"

jury is still out on whether this is really worth 200 bucks.
