Sport suspension upgrade

Guys,

I'm ready to upgrade my sport suspension on my 08 E90 sedan and
needs some advice on what to get? Street use only and no tracking.
Mods consist of BMW performance intake, Rogue exhaust, RPI air scoops
and Alufelgen CSL's. Will lowering make the car make it bumpy, if not may
consider it. Thanks again for your help and I'm clueless when it comes to
suspension.

A spring and shock combination (e.g. H&R Sports springs with Koni FSD Shocks) or a standard single adjustable coil over kit (e.g. KW Variant 1) would be your best bet. These setups will give you a lower stance and a firm ride without sacrificing ride quality or comfort.

I hear the terms quite often but what are the difference between coilovers
and shocks/struts?

Thanks,

i just installed Bilstein PSS10 and set on softest, the ride is fantastic, comfort as before if not better because of less roll, car is very well balanced and stable but planted. Even my Gf thinks is much better that before.

If you won't track the car you won't notice a difference other than looks. switch to non run flat tires if you want the ride to be comfortable and go to a lowering spring that is made to work with the stock dampers, such as tein style master

In most instanced when you hear coilover on the forums, what is being referred to is a shock with an adjustable spring perch which allows you to adjust ride height. KW, Cross, and H&R all make coilovers in addition to their springs and shocks.

Spring and shock/strut combos are non-adjustable. Like your stock setup except with different spring rates and shock valving.

how low are koni shocks + HR sports since they are not adjustable?

Thanks

Also, it seems to me that there are 3 major brands that people here uses

KW V1 / ST V1 / FK silverline / H&R

read some complaints on H&R.. so how about others? other than their price difference....

Also looking to enhence the look more than to track the car without sacrificing too much comfort..

H&R Sports will get you roughly a 1.2-1.5' drop. Have you considered Eibach Pro-Kits with Koni FSD's? This will drop the car about 1.4'' and still provide a comfy street ride.

Thanks.

I went with KW V1 instead, but I am regretting a little bit, because I was reading the other thread of KW V3 problems on Xi, and not sure if the same failure would apply to V1 on "i" cars, which is what I have.

PS. someone gotta ban this learn chinese dude. I actually accidentally clicked the link and it linked to some place i cant load and i just closed it quickly. probably virus or something

You won't have any issues with the V1's. Good choice by the way, the adjustable ride height is always a benefit.

You too can learn Chinese in China, or even learn American in America.
