Any of you guys gone single turbo or upgraded your twins?

If so, what did you go with and who did the work?

Well, I didn't upgrade but I did however get my stock turbos replaced at BMW because they were faulty.

I have Vargas Stage 2 Batch 2 on the way, still debating if i am going to be doing the work or actually find somebody to swap for me. It's a fairly large job to replace the turbos.

Very interested in these vs. rob's twins. My stock turbos are going down hill quick. Waste gates rattle all the time regardless of software band aids and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they start smoking.

It was the one in Norwood. Right across the highway from Mercedes and Porsche I think. I forgot my service reps name but they are a really good dealership over all

Hey if you have that waste gate rattle I'm pretty sure you can get new stock turbos as part of the new warranty they passed for the n54 like two years ago

Already been down that road, the car is modified and BMW knows it. At this point they are willing to pay for parts and I'm responsible for install.

I'd be up for the install but I'm sure ill regret it lol. Downpipes suck but are usually 3 hours, knowing that and seeing how much room is pretty non existant and how much work it is I'd be surprised if it took less than ten hours.

Ya, I've heard anywhere from 6 (someone who has done it several times) to 12 (book) hours.

I'm personally a fan of what Terry did on his 6AT 135. I'd likely want the same kit.

Just replaced my turbos with Vargas stage 2's, haven't had time to get a retune. I went to Hero at Motive Autoworks in Woburn.
It took him about 20hours plus he replaced the valve cover and some other shit that was giving me grief.
I just need to get a retune from Bren and I will be good.
I have a basemap on my Cobb AP for now and the car feels really strong.

Interesting, I've never heard of them. I see that you're awd... 6AT or MT? Was the cost about what you expected?

i honestly forgot the name. i think the first one i went through was named jim i think. he wears glasses and is very upfront about everything. he sits in the second cubicle on the right. the second guy i dealt with on another guy but i wouldnt recommend him because he just wanted to charge me for everything and didnt want to give me anything off like jim did. Hope that helps.

6AT, and it was more than I wanted to spend but I wasn't surprised by any means by the cost. Those snails are a bitch to take out.

Cool cool... I've seen projects get out of hand which is why I ask. I'll give them a call. Is your tranny okay with the new turbos? I'm 6ATxi also.
