Help diagnose noise from front brakes

Until I can get to the shop on Monday, please, any thoughts?

You know the sound it makes when the front tire is rubbing against something, for example, the wheel liner? A thump, thump, thump, thump that speeds up and slows down as you do? When I step on the brakes though it stops. So I'm thinking something loose on the front brakes, maybe the caliper or something? Upon visual inspection, nothing is loose or rubbing against the tires. The wheel liner is on perfect, the retaining clips for the brakes pads is tight, nothing is loose.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Take it to a very good Alignment shop, have then inspect for play in the front Suspension.

Sounds like your bushing are really worn.
Then tell us what they say.
Without someone getting under it and see what is rubbing..,. It's a guessing game.

Just curious, did you change brake pads within the last 4 months or 1000 miles?
If so, what pads did you use and where did you buy them?

Forgot about this thread. No freaking clue but it randomly stopped and hasn't been back since. I'm guessing something got stuck deep up inside where even the guy at the shop couldn't see it.

Sounds exactly like it. Does your speed up as you accelerate?

Yes, it does and I have noticed that if I tap the brakes very lightly that the noise would go away and when i remove my foot it comes back.

Today the sound was loud when I was driving to work, however when I drove to lunch during break time the sound has not appeared and I have heard maybe isolated knocks instead of continuous knocks.

I initially thought it was snow stuck inside the wheel well, however all the snow has melted and it is warm in Toronto now and the sound is still here. But the sound is inconsistent and when I brought car to my mechanic, it was quiet and only made very isolated knocks even on a very bumpy road and he says it can be my endlinks. I have read somewhere that it may be loose lug nuts and I have tried to tighten them a bit with a breaker bar (not torque wrench) very lightly so I do not overtorque the wheels.

Hope we can solve this issue together because it is annoying and embarassing when it knocks and people are looking at you like whats wrong with your car haha

Took it to the shop and the mechanic said everything looks fine, all joints are tight and when he spins the rear wheel, there is a noise similar coming from the drive shaft which he noted but everything seems good.

He checked all the bushings, lug nuts and all is well.

The noise has gone away since this morning after clicking a couple times, and while I drove it out to the mechanic and back to the office, hope it doesn't come back and haunt me.

I wonder if this is a weather related problem

noise has come back, i have purhcased a torque wrench, jacked up car, removed wheel, made sure hub ring is still intact and put it back on with impact gun and torqued to 88ft lb and while iw as at it, i played around and found no play what so ever, however looking under the hood, the air box assembly where the air gets sucked into through the grills has become very loose, however i do not have the STAR pattern screw driver to tighten it, can that be the cure?

Look up torx bits, is that what you mean.
Buy a set, you will need it in multiple places in your car.

I just went to the shop and they checked the lug nuts and confirmed they are tight, air box looseness has been tightened back and went for a test drive, the car was dead silent, however when we were returning to the shop the noise came on and I told my mechanic that if you hit the brakes even very gently, the noise would be muted.

while the car was on the hoist, he checked the joints and everything looks fine but he said things like end links are hard to tell because we cannot replicate the cars weight on the joints and they also hammered the inner side of the wheel and heard a metallic sound like something is loose and while they hammered the passenger side, the car was mute and he suspects that it is the steering rack.

While driving back from the shop, I heard the noise knocking again and its so annoying

What are your thoughts on this guys
