328i convertible transmission problem
I hope I'm in the right place to comment on my 2011 328i convertible. I purchased it new March 2011, I have 20,000 miles on her. In November I started having problems with the transmission not shifting from 3rd to 4th, 5th & 6th, I've had it in the shop 5 times, they reprogrammed it 2 times. The 2nd time I was on my way home (I live 45 minutes away from the closest BMW dealer) I went 3 miles heading home & it wouldn't shift out of 3rd, after they said it was fixed. I turned around & took it right back to dealer, it was still under warranty. They finally said it needed a NEW transmission. The tach reves up between 4 & 5, it sounded like the engine was gonna blow. So after waiting a month for a new tranny to come from Germany, got it back they said it had to memorize how I drive it, so after putting 300 miles on it, it's STILL doing the same thing!!!! I purchased extended warranty so I would be covered. What should I do now????? Would appreciate your help. BTW NO warning lights ever came on.

Since your under warranty I'd say give BMW North America a call or try a different dealer. You could check your shifter cables to see if their pinched or it could be solenoids.
I wouldn't bother trying to fix it yourself, take it to a different dealer and give BMW NA a call. |

Transmission problem
When you have a BMW dealership work on your car, don't all dealers have a record as to what was done to your car? They just say to run the car so it can memorize how you drive. That hasn't worked so far, it just hangs on to 3rd gear even when I use the paddles to shift. My warranty expired 3/15/2015, all the work was done before that, they told me that the new transmission would be covered for 2 extra years, but I purchased extended warranty, for fear something would go wrong.

CPO? Or an extended warranty for the transmission only? You don't sound that well versed, thus a prime victim of stealerships.
You can try a different stealer, often people in your regional section of the forum can recommend dealers. Some of them are just asses for no good apparent reason. |

Transmission problem
The dealership is standing behind the "new" transmission for 2 years. I purchased the car new in 2011, so for fear of something else happening to the car I purchased Extended Warranty for 4 yrs. I guess I should have just sold the car. This isn't my first BMW, I have 3, I have a 1957 Isetta, 2005 Z4 3.0 purchased new & this 328i retractable purchased new, had a Z3, purchased new & sold it for the Z4.
