The revival of my 'new' turbo e36 M3....
UPDATED 4/27/09
from today's BMW CCA spring tour for the national chapter. I will post up a bunch of photos from today, some awesome cars, great weather and beautiful locations and fun roads, cant ask for more! tweaked the suspension a little more last night AND got my new seats installed...love them. There is a little more room to bring it down in the front, but I want to be careful with it...have to keep in mind there is a downpipe hanging low....dont want to tear that off! no room for lowering here! Corbeau CR1's are in...love these seats. Honestly, they are more comfortable to me than the Vaders, put almost 6 hours and 300 miles into these seats today and my back feels great! Could not say that w the Vaders. Important to get the optional adjustable lumbar supports if you buy these seats...big help. Corbeau has aluminum insert rings for the harness holes...you guys think those would look good? I'll get better interior shots sometime soon ================================================== ====== ORIGINAL POST hey guys, thought I'd post this here. I picked up a very nice e36 w/ a TT stg II turbo kit last Thursday evening. Ever since I've been hard at work on it. The previous owner took good care of the car but the last few months...probably 4-5 its been sitting outside and untouched thru the winter. It was a MESS. I didnt really take any good pics of the damage but there was a ton of acid rain etching, swirl marks and scratches galore. I went on a paint detailing/correction binge yesterday. A solid steady 12-13hr affair on nothing but the paint. Here is a quick post from Mark on the boards (mscire2). He helped out and took pics the whole time. He'll post up more I'm sure. I have never destructed a orang pad like I did this one. The whole car got 2 full passes from an orange pad and Menz. SIP. The pad was TOAST. look how dirty the edges are in some of the pics. It was shooting off foam at the end like crazy. Start: ========================= this is a copy of Mark's post (mscire2) from yesterday....he hung out and helped me thru the whole process: Hey guys just giving a fairly large update to the cleanup of sniz's new e36 Pics are from yesterday and today and work is still in progress as i type this. Just throwing up a live update Top of muffler pre polish Post Polish After a real good bath The beginning of polishing All 3 stages of polish done Sealant is going on the car now ========================== more from me: whats up guys....wow long long day. Started w/ a wash around 11am and finished at just about midnight w/ the wax. Nothing but exterior work. what was done: - all wheels pulled and wheel wells and suspension completely degreased and scrubbed......wow was that a mess - full wash with about 5 different rinses. I have never seen paint so in need of attention, at least on a car that I own!!! No beading goin on here - dry w leaf blower and microfiber waffle weave - moldings pulled - FULL clay bar treatment, seriously dirty clay afterwards - Menzerna SIP w orange pad......the pad was TOAST afterwards, mark will probably post pics of that nasty ass thing - Menzerna 106FF w white pad - Menzerna glaze w black pad - jeffs acrylic jett - CG Pete's 53 wax - Aerospace 303 on all moldings after they were degreased -polished tips the above took over 12 freaking hours...i'm toast. here are 2 final shots, its Beam and Coke and then bed for me. tomorrow is full interior detail, seats will be pulled, everything steam clean and degreased.

2 different cars....totally. the M3 is a BEAST, very raw when it wants to be....I like that I should have mentioned it has a stage II turbo w around 400whp/tq.... i'm working now on civilizing it a bit more. Custom leather Corbeau's, new stereo, adding a cat to the 3" exhaust, etc. the 335 was a fantastic car, nothing I would have changed on it other than making it much lighter.

such a classic car, must be a very fun project. I love the lines of the e36 m3. It looks even better when the car is in motion. Timeless design. congrats sniz.

hahaha...i was going to suggest the same thing...but i figured that most would feel that should be left "original"...but he does have aftermarket rims and the engine has been modded...

yesterday before I headed back over to Adams to start detailing the interior and engine bay.
this shot is taken thru the screen on my family room window, so its a bit washed out, but still shiny! I really didnt document this very well, I ended up pulling all the seats out and the center console. I scrubbed down EVERYTHING with a microfiber soaked in degreaser, then went back over everything with just plain water to rinse it off. Carpet was vacuumed, then sprayed with commercial carpet cleaner and scrubbed, then steam cleaned and dried, then deodorized. all plastics were treated with Aerospace 303. Leather on the rear seat was cleaned and conditioned. The front vaders are in bad shape (especially the drivers side), I just cleaned the gunk off of them and put them back in at the end. new leather seats are going to be ordered soon :alright. Look at all the junk! I pulled $7.35 in change out of this car, several different unidentified pills, french fries, goldfish, random other wrappers, receipts, a bungee chord, and a comb out from under the front and rear seats. NASTY. but now its all squeaky clean BEFORE AFTER the rag I used for degreasing/cleaning everything looked like I used it to change the oil, not clean the interior.....just nasty. So glad I did this :buttrock ENGINE BAY fully degreased (although not as thorough as I wanted, I was getting tired and hungry). Still need to hit all the plastic bits with protectant. only bad thing, now I have a squeaking belt it seems...perhaps all the oil and crud was keeping it together. Oh well, new belts and and an adjustment it'll be fine. Filter is being pulled now and cleaned, possibly replaced. All those wires on the left are going to be organized soon.
