E92 325i randomly switching off

Hey Beamer lovers, I always use this forum to help me whenever I need something done, however now I believe I need your help,
Pretty much I was driving in the rain and the car randomly switched of indicating tyre failure, dsc failure fuel pump failure bla bla bla, wouldn't turn on so had to get it towed, 2 days later the car turned on like nothing happend, I've been driving it for a week and it still randomly shuts down while driving weather stopped or in gear, bmw dealership said it MIGHT be the dme because it's corroded, said it will cost 3500....so i dropped it off at an Indy autoeletricition and am waiting to see what he says, has anyone experienced this before?
Ps the car is: e92 325i 2006 Manuel
Cheers!

UPDATE! 15/01/14 PLEASE HELP!
just got the car back today and the indy changed the crank angle sensor as the car was throwing this code, while he had the car it ran fine, how ever i just picked it up and the problem is back! it keeps switching off! annoying as, and you cant tell when it will as well. the autoeletriction said he changed some parts on the DME but i think he is full of it, he is the one that said after he "fixed the DME" that the car is throwing a crankshart sensor code. so i told this information to my mechanic who changed the crank shaft sensor (note: when my mechanic scaned the car he couldnt find anything....no codes...) if anyone has any ideas that would be great, im looking to trade it in now but i dont want to as i really love it!

Check to see if the battery cable recall is available for your car. This seems like one of the symptoms of the faulty cable at the fuse box.

This. Happened to my buddy's E90 328i. I took my E92 335i to the dealer to get that recall work done right after I bought it.

called BMW australia today and they said my car wasnt affected by the recall, call the eletriction and asked him if he found anything and he said the computer needs to get repaird and he has to order in a part as well, and that part wont come in till janurary 6th! because his supplier is closed or something like that, he told me it would cost arround 1000 so i told him sure go for it, BMW quoted me 3500, independent bmw specialist said 2700, so i guess this guy is it, i used him for my mercedes that i had before so he is trustworthy...doubt the part he is ordering is anywhere nead 1k but i guss labour ay.
car is with me now, drove it home like nothing was wrong -_- imma let my dad use it since he works down the road untill the part comes in

ps i asked what the part was so i can get it for him and he said cant remember from the top of his head (he was on the phone, his wife was at the shop)
thanks guys for your help, ill let you know how it goes, miss driving my baby

update:

gave the car in on the 6th of this month, called the guy today (8th) to see if i can pick it up, he said the original error code is gone (the DME has been repaired), but now its showing the following errors:
-crank angle sensor
-oxygen sensor

he said he will look into it to see if the codes are legit or not by this afternoon...hopfully its nothing major and these codes just go away

Last edited by sjf430; 01-15-2014 at 03:59 AM.. Reason: meant crank angle, NOT camshaft

if anyone has any ideas that would be great, im looking to trade it in now but i dont want to as i really love it!

If it is the dme, you can always buy it and reprogram it yourself. It isn't very hard to do

Hey guys, gave my car in to a specialist (previously it was at my usual mechanic) they have been really good with their service, ruled out every problem and said its the DME for sure, so i had to bend over and say yes to them $2700, be here in 10 days time, coming from germany, as he was looking into it he said leaves blocked the drainage and water over time must of gotten in.

Just wondering what you guys would do in my situation, would you sell it after getting it fixed or keep it???????? as friends and family have been telling me to sell, now i MAYBE thinking about, thanks guys for ur help, hopfully this doesnt happen to anyone else, and please make sure u clean ur drains near ur windscreen!! (learn from my mistake)
