I just followed the DIY to delete the RDC and go to FTM today.
I found the module behind the insulation above the battery.
2008 E91

the DIY thread was very concise and step by step with ncsexpert for the coding.

TPMS antenna relocation

Thank you for the location information!
I was able to pick up a replacement from a local salvage yard for cheap. For my '11 E90, it was plug and play. However, It only lasted about a month before it failed (you get what you pay for). I'm wondering since it did work for some time, would have lasted longer if it was mounted away from the elements? Living in New England, In the winter, most of the water on the road is usually mixed with salt - Of course, this is not a good combination for exterior electronics.
I've since picked up another older style (3616793122) from a salvage yard - again for cheap and plug n' play. I tested it and it works... for now.
In an effort to prevent re-occurrence, has anyone tried relocating the TPMS antenna from outside the body to an interior location, such as inside the trunk area? We could guess that they may have located it outside for a better signal, but I do not have any data to support that theory.
Or...but does the updated part number (36106868194) new, from the dealer, built to withstand salt water?

spray the connector with corrosionx when you assemble.

then put the module in a ballon, with a zip tie over the harness to hold it.

that's what I used to do with receivers in sea planes before I just started treating them with corrosionx.

if you really want, split the module open ad treat the PCB with corrosionx.

Relocated TPMS module

Thanks for the suggestions nsjames. I'll look into getting some corrosionx at some point, as that looks like a great product!

For now, these are the steps that I took.
  1. Purchased a used module from salvage yard.
  2. Used a razor blade to carefully cut along the factory seam to open the module. (found some corrosion inside even though it was working).
  3. Cleaned the existing corrosion using a soft nylon brush, WD40 and isopropyl alcohol.
  4. Coated both sides of the board with clear nail polish.
  5. Used a soldering iron, with flat tip attachment, to melt the module seam back together.
  6. Applied some some electrical grease to the connector. (already had)
  7. Relocated the module higher up in fuel filler neck area to keep it away from the road spray as best as possible. <see pic>
  8. Reset TPMS system via iDrive console.

Repair cost: $30. Time: 1 hour.

It's only been a couple weeks, but so far so good. I also tested the system by lowering air pressure in one of the tires. The low pressure warning activated as expected. I then was able to clear the error after setting pressure to recommended levels.

Yup! It's a popsicle/USB drive looking thing that sits right behind the fender of the rear passenger wheel. Literally you just have to pop off the first two clips from the bottom of the fender as well as the clip on the undercarriage and you have access. It's the easiest thing

Hope this helps
Which year and model do you have? still can't find mine.

Any ideas?
