2200rpm. Damn , thats prolly some great track prep. At my track I would be spinning like a mustang gt.

Great job on just the SSTT! Brake boosting to 2,200 makes all the difference in the world if the track will hold it. What RPM did you shift at?

Post it up on dragtimes. Looks like the quickest time with SSTT for an otherwise stock E9x 335i

Sounds like sealy improved their track prep. Used to be realllly bad after Hennessey bought it and turned it into an 1/4 track. Maybe they finally got the point. Its a fun track to practice at. Usually isnt nearly as busy as HRP. Track prep on test and tune can be spotty though. When i went up there i couldnt break 2.4 60ft times on soft launches. But this was over a year ago on RFT. No one was hooking up... people with huge slicks would sit spinning. They were using just water in the water box nothing extra . But i did get to do as many runs as I wanted.

For those who don't know:

Left foot on the brake and foot on the gas while in gear ready to launch.
This is the best thong about launching an auto because it just takes off like a rocket..

Great job.

great #'s. 2200 rpm is the magic number for launching auto or is the range 2000-2500 fine?

yes, it is the best way to launch, but doing it often will mess up the torque converter.

Depends on the surface conditions. Most of the time I can't brake boost above 1800 rpms, or else I just break the tires loose and spin in place. Must have been some great track prep for sure to be able to launch at 2200 in an auto.

Congrats on the run! I wonder what kind of improvement you would see with a drop in filter or BMS, CAI, etc. intake upgrade.

Is-f is only available in Automatic IIRC.

The IS-F did out MPH me by 3 or so mph. It would pull me on the highway, but at the strip, even with a better driver, the IS-F could NOT out et me. I wish I could have given it a go in the IS-F... Here are some pics:

Okay, in defense of the IS-F. The car was new and the driver didn't know that driving it in manual mode is actually a couple of tenths faster than fully automatic mode. Duh...

Under manual mode, if you don't shift just right, you'll bounce off the rev limiter or short shift. It takes a bit of practice and timing to get it just right.

Second, they didn't launch it right - their best that night was 12.89 but 60' of 2.04. Honestly, if they knew how to launch and hook up, you'd been walked on. Just look at the trap - 111 vs. 108.

BUT, the IS-F is more difficult to launch than a 335i. Stiffer suspension = less squat = less weight transfer to the rear and the 54/46 weight vs. 50/50 puts less weight on the rear tires so it is really easy to light up the rear tires.

Your best was 12.84 and his was 12.89 but it was all lost and then some at the first 60'. So, you were simply the better driver that day. On the street with a rolling start, you'd need down pipes, and a little more tune.

HOWEVER, congrats on a great run man!

You wouldn't need downpipes, exhaust, or intake modifications at all. A 335i can do low 12's with very minimal modifications. By the way, what is the elevation, and temp that night?

A 335i can do low 12's with a tune and drag radials and good conditions - I concur. I'm simply saying that a SSTT won't walk an IS-F by itself. 111 mph trap with a good launch should give better than 12.89 IMO. 111 with a 1.8 60' should be around 12.3-12.4.
