Indicator & Warning Lamps Reference Booklet

This is for those of you who prefer to keep your owner's manual at home, but feel uncomfortable in situations where an obscure indicator/warning lamp may come on. The back of the owner's manual contains a handy reference to all the indicator and warning lamps, some decidedly much more severe than others. But again, I prefer to keep my manual at home, even though I have a digital copy on my computer.

So I put together this condensed version of all the lamps, the corresponding cause(s), and the suggested action(s). Everything was taken from a post-September U.S. owner's manual. I omitted the obvious ones (turn signals, door open, etc.), and because my E90 is a U.S. model, I didn't include any Canadian-specific descriptions.

Jason was kind enough to host this file on E90post, and to include a nice little logo on the last page!

So if you're interested, here are the instructions:

1. Download the image file from http://www.e90post.com/goodiesforyou/indicators.jpg. Open in your favorite image viewing program.
2. Print onto 8.5" x 11" paper in Portrait mode. Multi-purpose paper works fine, but photo paper (or slightly thicker paper) is best. The entire image should be printed onto one side. I would suggest reducing the print margins all around to .3" or less.
3. Once printed, fold in half from top to bottom (printed side facing out). Then fold again in half from side to side (with E90post logo facing out).
4. You will then have a tiny 4-page booklet you can store easily.

Warning: the icons and font are small, but if I can see them with my awful eyesight, I figure others should be fine.

If anyone notices something I need to change, please let me know!

Thanks, this is very useful considering I don't want to get my manual out of the trunk every time I have a light come on.

Great list. Its surprising how many symbols are not listed in the manual. This is an excellent addition.

Thanks again!

Nicely done!

EDIT:

Spotted one typo: Under Cause for half CEL it says: Fuel engine power no longer available. Should be Full engine power...

Thanks for this. Incredibly helpful! This really should just be in the manual somewhere easy to find but it seems all jumbled up with the various components.

Don't stand behind the exhaust because it's really hot?

Edit: left is usually the front: don't stand in front of the car in case someone steals the car and runs you over?

(Joking ofcourse)

Before you created the upside down / fold in it, did you maybe create an all-straight version for on my phone?

PS yellow battery can also mean: high idle discharge detected. I got this recently when I was messing around with my mmi box on contact on with engine off for like 30 minutes, car didn't like that.

When that happened to me, strangely it even added ABS and tire monitor failure at that point, but after starting the engine it was all gone.
