I just bought an 08 335xi a few months ago, and am looking to have both a front and rear bumper painted and installed in the near future (probably M3 Rep and MTech rear), as well as a catless downpipe (leaving the rest of the exhaust stock) and coilovers. Given that I haven't lived in Columbia long, which shops would you guys recommend for getting this kind of work done? Thanks.

I just had CP-E DP installed on my 335xi at MKC in Kansas City, no rattling that I can hear, and since they just did mine they could give you a very accurate estimate.

Otherwise very few shops around here have worked on the 135/335, let alone an XI, everyone I talked to wanted to charge me straight time and wouldn't give me an estimate.

Try "Columbia Auto Repairs" off of Fay Street. Tom has good prices and knows what he's doing. He hasn't worked on my e92 but he's done work on my e36 M3.

Bought my 2010 E91 during the holidays. Love it so far. May get to experience the xDrive tonight. I keep telling the car that St. L streets are cobblestone, like back home!

Born and raised in CoMo here, but I live in Madison, WI now. I'd recommend getting involved with KCBMWClub, when I left they had a very active and inclusive group!

Hey everybody, anything happening in como area? I'm planning to move back home to columbia/jeff city area in the next few months from KC, and am going to also be stepping up my modding, as i've decided to keep my e90 for the foreseeable future. Was originally planning on stepping into an f30, but I'm just not that impressed with them, and with the move now, I think I'll just throw some money into maintenance and mods instead.

i'll probably be looking for your input on a good indie shop and reputable paint shop (going to get an m3 rep front bumper) at some point. My wife and I are both MU alum, so I'm looking forward to coming home and catching some MU football games again!

Hey guys KC Native but just moved to Como from Arizona for school. Have an 06 330i. Definitely interested in meets if I have any free time.

Looking for winter tires or a new set of wheels atm, if anybody has any good recommendations. Thinking about just going to Machens, need oil change as well. Columbia doesn't seem to have any good indie BMW shops like in KC or Tucson.

Schm, I think I saw your car last week in Hitt street garage, very sharp and clean looking E90 and welcome to CoMo! and unfortunately there isn't any good indy shop for our e9x in Columbia, Tom's import works mainly on older model BMW, they only charge $50/hr for labor but I am not sure if they are knowledgeable enough on E9x. Shelby tires can usually match price on tirerack, I have a couple friends purchased tires from them and if you don't minding do maintenance yourself and need a lift, you can rent lift at Tuning spot for $8/hr

Thanks Herman!

I actually park in Hitt garage every day. Went to Tom's and Machen's today for quotes. So stupid, Machens wants 764 for rear pad+rotor+sensor, Tom's is charging 251. Fucking labor is ridiculous. At least the good news is if I would have just taken it to the dealer they would have just replaced both sets and sent me on my way. Might just end up going to Tom's, I highly doubt they
are STEP certified but I just need oil change and brakes which are rather simple...better than a 3 hr drive to KC

750+ for rear brake is rip off, if you don't mind drive up to STL I would highly recommend Bradly motor werke. Tom is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, they charge slightly higher rate but they get job done quicker too. one of the mechanics Jon regularly attend HPDE and I think he still held lap records in a couple tracks around MO and IN in his class, he KNOWS his stuff if you want to step up in modding and prep for track. I think its about 1hr30min drive from CoMo to their shop, not too bad at all

Cool I will definitely contact them. I'm incredibly busy w school during the week but only have 1 class on Monday. I think it's worth the drive to get somebody who knows these things inside and out, even if it's just normal maintenance.

that's me LOL, trying to get my turbo replaced before warranty went out, Machens trying to rip me off with 750 quote for rear brakes and 1500 for valve cover and oil filter gaskets, absolutely insane, while there is definitely rattling, they still try to charge me 300 to take the cat off and "diagnose" for wastegate play. I am going to be furious if the charge me without sending me a pair of new turbo. I do most the maintenance myself so if you need help let me know.
