Fix-It Ticket - Non Correctable!

Driving along on 101 yesterday around 7pm, get pulled over by CHP for not having rear/front plates installed (bought the car preowned about 3 weeks ago). Officer doesn't care that I just got the car recently, writes me a up ticket for not having plates and on top of that includes a violation for front tint to top it off, he marked the plates violation as non-correctable (???)

Now i know there are lots of threads about fix it tickets, mostly about front plates and front tint, but has anyone had issues with getting a non-correctable changed to a correctable fix it ticket? either with the clerk or the judge? I fully intend to get both issues resolved, but would really like to fix and pay the small fine instead of paying the bigger fine for non-correctable.

Anyone with success (or horror stories) with getting a ticket changed to correctable? Thanks

Wow sorry to hear that, did you have your temp registration in the windshield? I was under the impression that you could run temp plates for like 6 months after buying the car with the temp registration, after which there is a pretty harsh fine. Or did you not have any plates all together?

I showed him the registration sticker on my windshield... the officer told me that I had to have plates on my car, and by law the dealership has to give me plates with a used car. i didn't realize that the dealership had put the plates in the hidden compartment underneath the trunk (d'oh). i was polite, and seemed completely unreasonable that he wouldn't be more understanding of someone who had just recently purchased the car! needless to say, the plates went on that night. He didn't say anything about tint until he presented me with the ticket with two violations listed.

Is the violation for no plates CVC 5200? If so, It's a Fix-it-ticket.

I thought that running dealer plates (i.e. no license plate) is a correctable $25 violation?

just like if you had no front plate...

Or am I wrong?

Cop gave me a speeding ticket and told me to slow down in the new car but didnt say any thing about the plates. (he even told me the new number the DMV had assinged and that i should get them in a week or so)
