That's a good question. Obviously, the "is" has a vacuum flap on the left side. Other than that, I'm not sure. If I ever get an extra muffler that's going to get junked, maybe I can cut it open to find out.

I think difference also with the inox which is using.
Also it is not a secret but perfomance muffler is really dedicated to n54, and engineer from munich had studied it!! It is a fact.
Last week i can compare n54 dp with stock muffler, and other 335 with dp with performance muffler.

I don't think he's made any vids yet, but I got to see the car and drive it yesterday. I think with "is" mufflers are the perfect middle-ground. Sounds stock when cruising, but a nice tone when you give it some throttle.

Considering they're half the price of the PE, I think they're a bargain. Plus, I like the look of the tips better. You also get to keep your stock mufflers vs. modifying them (if you ever want to go back to stock), so that's another thing going for the "is" swap.

I know this thread is about modifying the stock mufflers, but I think this is a great alternative.

Haha in that case do you have any vids? I'm currently running the VRSF 3.5" exhaust and it's honestly perfect except for two things. Tone and volume are perfect imo but the tips are too small and it hangs way too low... That's why i'm considering switching to a modified stock exhaust

Side by side the PE is quite a bit louder than the IS muffler. AFAIK the PE has no packing & no flap while the IS has a flap & less packing than the I. I hold the flap open 100% with the JB4 software.

There is more feedback into the car with the PE @ 2K RPM

What about the center "wall" dividing the two exhaust pipes on each muffler? Would removing that cause any change in sound?

I just got done modifying my exhaust, but haven't installed yet.

For the record, I have a 2007 E92 and I had packing on the driver side muffler. I didn't open the resonator up to check there, but the right side of the left muffler had packing.

Okay so my phone was almost dead and it was windy so I'll try and get some better vids later. So far though I'm loving the new exhaust tone with the is mufflers. Has some nice burble at decel and I'm sure when I get catless dp's back on the car and swap out my secondaries for race cats it will only get better.

Although it was windy from what I could tell that sounds awesome! If you have any time to take another video maybe taking off from a stop I would really appreciate it. I'm still waiting on my IS mufflers to get here

If someone could just buy this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2m-7mm-6LED-...item1e7c804df4 and probe the IS/PE i would be a happy camper .

I have seen people deleting either the inside perforated pipe and some the exit pipe.. Which is it ? If i could get my hands on one i would scan a xray of it!
