Guys with Stg2+ tune :: how often do you loose oil
Just came back from a 3500 mile round trip and oil level dropped to mid on the Idrive monitor ... there's nothing on the floor so It has to be the PCV to inlet vaporization or something else
how are you guys doing on oil consumption, esp ones with stg2+ tune thanks,

I'm at 7000 miles currently on my oil change. The dip stick reads 50% consumption.

Bottom line it should hold oil relatively "well" under extreme conditions compared to gasoline.
I had a few IC piping blowouts which I'm sure tossed out a good amount in the process. Check turbo oil feed piping, this can be commonly leaking under load. Besides this no gasket problems on my car, they seem pretty good about it. I'd like to hear from other members on consumption as well. |

Rotella T6 is 5w40 right ? I'm running 5w30 luqui moly LL 04, maybe I need to up the viscosity to 40, but the engine doesn't like it as much
Our x5 has never lost oil, ever .. This trip I was averaging 95 in the last 2 hrs of 10 hr drive maybe that's why.. and on the way back I was stg2+ alphabets removed ... lost oil both times though, while going (stock) and on the way back (tuned) ) |

My X5d uses oil, less then 1 quart every 10k but my 335d never did or at least not enough to be at the min level when checked between changes. The X5d also reminds you more often with the Idrive level indicators.

I seem to have burned maybe 1.5 quarts over 10k miles or so, this included multiple long range trips. Oil life monitor still claims 2k miles left, but I need to change it very shortly.

I dont think we have life monitor on our cars, it just calculates from mileage since oil service

BMW considers 1 liter of oil consumption per 1,000 miles as normal. My 335d and X5d consume maybe a liter per 10k miles. This is in line with other Bimmers I have owned.

I installed BPC's Clean Stage 2 tune at 101,000 miles, along with water/meth injection. Oil was changed about 500 miles later. Today, I'm at 115,000 miles with an oil change scheduled for Friday.
As you can see, the oil level is about 1/8" above the MIN mark. No oil has been added--ever. I'm anxious to see what's in my catch can Friday. |

QUIKDZL, no offense intended. Did you warm up all the way and then check stick 10 min after shutdown? If I go pull stuck after sitting all night, it shows about 1/2 way down. If you know proper method, nuff said 😉

Every other vehicle I've owned has always been cold checked too. It's in the manual to warm all the way up. Turn off for 10 min and check

It's a weird measurement requirement that's for sure. You can also just check cold and call 1/2 liter low full, since it would be if checked 10 min after shutdown
