I just did a test and Google Maps is working fine for me. The map showed up in my car and I am no longer getting the error email bounced back like I described in my earlier post (linked above).

This method has been deactivated for the USA on the BMW Routes WWW site, and has been removed from the menus on the current NAV software. If you have older firmware with this feature and the dealer upgrades the firmware in your NAV the feature will be gone.

Same update from me too. I changed my email address to a Gmail account last weekend. Didn't fix it obviously.

I've been told my issue has been escalated to their technical people, and they'll follow-up with me in a week. The BMW Assist operator mentioned that Google made configuration/software changes about a month ago, and this has broken the MyInfo service for a small number of users. It primarily affected owners of multiple cars, but there are a handful of us without multiple cars that it has affected. Either that, or no one really uses the MyInfo service and no one is complaining about it being broken

I'm just relaying what I've been told, so who knows how much of it is correct. Not much I can do about it now, just have to wait and hope. I'll be sure to call them again this weekend if they don't.

Another Canadian (GTA) with the same problem: Google maps indicates that the data was sent successfully to the car, but no MyInfo message appears.

It last worked for me in late August. I've had the same feedback from concierge personnel: Google's problem, not ours; our engineers are working on it, blah blah blah...They've also reset my password. They did assure me, however, that it's a systemic problem and not my vehicle.

I love the Google maps feature; it was the principal reason I kept BMW assist after the the one free year ran out. Sure, I can write down the address/postal code on a piece of paper and call concierge every time I want route directions, but that's a lot less convenient than 2 clicks on Google maps.

CHCCubs and zone555, any luck?

Still not working for me. I tried sending a few destinations to my car last week, but still not working. I was thinking of calling back in and changing my e-mail address back to what it originally was to see if that works.

Have you folks tried to ask those who got this feature working to send a route via googleMap to your respective bimmers? or vice versa? Mine has been working since September 2009 when I got my 328iC. It has worked not only here where I live, but also while I was on Vero Beach FL and Portland ME, using hotel hot spots. Contrary to what others had said, I did change my eMail address with bmwAssist and got no issues. If you got gps signals your bmwAssist should work. This feature is also available on certain gps stand alone units for years that you can purchase from electronic stores. This is not an exclusive feature available only to BMW's. Make sure you don't got a hardware/transmission issue. Can you call bmwAssist from your vehicle? Does your vehicle generate service appointments requests when needed? Did you try the remote unlock feature? You are allowed free events in a given year. Your eMail address is your ID associated with your vehicle's gps IMEI. Suggestion: send a goggleMap to your own mobile phone. See if it works, it worked for me.

I took delivery of my 335i in July '09 and the Google maps feature worked flawlessly until late August; since then, nothing. I can call and speak to concierge in the car and they can send addresses to MyInfo -- Google maps is the missing link.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I can't test it otherwise: I don't have a smartphone and the TomTom I take on European trips just has basic GPS.

googleMaps works for any cellular service, i.e. GSM, CDMA, UMTS, etc...all you need is SMS. I plan to drive to Halifax in spring, then take a ferry to PEI. I will then try to send googleMap while I am on Prince Edward using local hotel's wifi.

Excuse my ignorance, but how can I use Google maps to send an SMS to my phone? The send options are email (which worked), car, and GPS.

I contacted concierge again today. She put me on hold and spoke to their tech dept. Unfortunately, it was the same vague response, i.e. that they recognize there's a problem and they're working on it. I asked that they update me by email using my BMW Assist address. If I hear anything further, I'll post it.

Pretty much the same response when I called them yesterday. They know there's an issue.. will try to escalate to a supervisor.. blah blah.

My car's due for an oil change this Thursday, so I told them to look at this issue as well. No point trying to diagnose this issue yourself since it's obviously a fault on the Google + BMW Assist end.

I've actually tried sending locations via Googlemaps from several different computers in different locations (even when I was away in Michigan recently) and my BlackBerry without any success.

Lately I've just given up on this service and I've just been calling the concierge to get locations sent to my car.

May be you ain't got such feature where you live in Canada. I see an applet with phone and carrier network option on googleMap main webpage where I can select eMail/cars/gps/phone.

I don't see googleMap myInfo FAQ under googleMap>send>car>bmw>bmwAssist>bmwConnectDrive> select a region (Canada)...but if I select United States/UK/Austria/Italy/Germany I see a comprehensive myInfo FAQ. So does this mean that this feature is only available if there is a myInfo FAQ? This does not make any sense. Read the myInfo FAQ for US region and see if you can get anything useful out of it. Please note the relevancy of last FAQ, make sure that the oxymoron who handled your call did not make a wrong entry on your behalf.

I got this resource from myInfo FAQ page of bmwOwners for those who need additional info on this subject.

The send to phone feature isn't available in Canada. Detecting my IP, Google won't let me access google.com (it automatically redirects me to google.ca). I can log into google.it, which does give me the option. However, it wouldn't accept my cell phone number, even if I appended the country code: "numero di telefono non valido".

The Canadian version of BMW assist is similar but not identical to yours; for example, BMW Search isn't part of our package.

OMG...so you poor Canadian souls ain't got the same features of bmwAssist as us here in the US. That isn't fair...but will my bmwAssist work if I drive to Canada? I will try it when I go to Halifax & PEI early next spring.

We have a '09 X5d and a 2010 335d, one mine and one is my wife's. Different accounts, emails, etc. Both worked fine in getting google directions from the computer - until recently. Just noticed now that when I send them to my car w/ my email, they also go to my wife's car, while my wife is not able to send to her car w/ her address. have talked to my service rep - no help yet. Have talked to BMW assist and BMW cust srvc about 5 different times. Everyone has verified email addresses, etc. Finally, the last BMW cust srvc person I talked to said you are no longer able to have multiple cars with multiple email addresses in the same family. In other words he said if you have 5 cars in the same family, its the email associated with the latest car that will be used for all cars. They have updated their system. Anyone else experiencing this?

I guess BMW still doesn't know what there talking about. My wife has the newer car so it's her email that should be associated w/ both cars. Went to test it again today and sent directions to my email/car(the older car) and they went both to my car and my wife's while a separate set of directions sent to my wife's car did not show up at all.
