12.21 @ 115mph, 1.88 60'
Went to the track tonight for the first time in forever... the desert never was the best place for this kind of thing... It dropped down all the way to 75 degrees ( ) tonight so I went out and gave it a few tries...
I had probably 3/8 of a tank at around 101 octane, close to 100% meth on map 3 working my way up to a 70 adder. This was done starting in second and brake boosting to about 2500rpm before lauching and shifting out at 6000rpm. Mods are JB4 15ohm, Mr5 intake with cm3 pre-filter in both snorkels, cm10 in charge pipe, UR CL DPs Looks like its time for a G5 for sure. Will probably install HJS 100cell cats in the midpipes just because, not that I expect those to make any sort of significant difference. Maybe I'll do a FMIC... still not thrilled about that mod- idk why I seem to be the only one who doesn't see it as making enough difference to do? I get that it'll help, but in my case I see the gains as marginal at best- my IATs were 80 degrees by the time 3rd gear hit. Given that is only 5 degrees higher than ambient, I don't see the purpose. I think I can do 11s if it ever gets cool enough. I'm jealous of those at sea level who get temps in the 50s or even below... A driver mod would probably help too, tonight was my third time at a track. |

thats an awesome time for sure! my best run with 50/50 and only 93 at 100F ambient was a 12.7... 1.7 60ft and 109mph. I've been waiting till i can get back there again when its in the 50's .... HOpefully i can get closer to your time but i'm thinkinging i'll have to get race gas to do that.

It would be pretty impressive to see times like that in a n55 335xi for sure! Admittedly, I don't know much about the n55 other than it would mean much more for an n55 to hit a 12.2 than an n54- that would be awesome.

Your time is not bad at all. If you push hard I think you can get to 12.1-11.89. If I remember from the other thread you are at 400awhp right? My goal, I want to be able to do mid to high 11s at around 123mph or more. |

Why would it be impressive to see a 12.2 out of an n55 xi? Because of the generally weaker results seen from similar higher stage piggy tunes with meth in higher boost territories for the n55- the current results from n55 xi's to my knowledge aren't congruent to similarly modified n54s.
I don't have an awhp number for you on my car unfortunately, the only time I ever took my car to a dyno was kind of last minute and I ended up hoping in vain that ~93 octane with 100% meth going into 2 cm3s and a cm10 would provide a sufficient octane increase such that I wouldn't misfire on the dyno targeting 18.5psi on G4 15ohm before the G5 was released... but I did misfire. It made 441 awtq just before misfiring, which occurred around 3k rpm each of the 3 times we tried. Maybe when I re-install everything I'll do a max OEM turbo dyno properly with 109 octane at say 19.5 target to see exactly where that puts my car, given the over-clarified variances in the other thread haha. I'll do so while I send my currently injured stock turbos on vacation later on in the year IF I had to choose a yes/no based on speculation, I'd say that I was making right around 400awhp when targeting 20psi on 100% meth and race gas. |

High 11s is possible tune only if the conditions are right, but 123mph traps in the XI is going to take some nitrous or upgraded turbos. The drivetrain loss and extra weight both combine to keep traps down.

Nice times, you literally are almost exactly where I sit with my best time 12.24 but at 116mph.
Honestly though, looking at that graph, it doesn't appear there is much left in the car. Boosting to 19-20psi midrange then only tapering to about 17-18psi on stockers. And then ignition advance at 12-13 is about as ideal that you can expect from a stock turbo car. |

I'd have better luck seeing 11s by taking the car down to sea level on a cold morning... |
