BMW Numberplate Surrounds
Hi Guys,
I will be fitting my private reg in the next few days and this time I have decided to go with pressed German style plates. I've never had them before so I've never needed any surrounds. I was behind an M3 a few days ago with pressed plates and it looked great, but the surround he had on there looked awful! It had 2 BMW Logos, 2 Alpina Logos, M-Power Logo etc, and it looked rubbish up close! I've seen a few that I like, the 'BMW AUTOHAUS MUNCHEN' ones for example, but every one I see on eBay has the same rubbish BMW logos all over it. I know these won't be to everyone's' taste, and admittedly it wasn't mine either until recently, but now I want to try some. Any recommendation anyone? FYI This is the type of thing I mean, but without all the other crap on it. I don't want a plain black one either, my car is a standard E91 so I want to make it look a little different (Mine also won't have the German logo):

You don't need surrounds. I have pressed plates on mine, and have ran them on my other cars and never used them, I just use super sticky pads!
Although some surrounds do look cool

Had the same done to mine for about a year until I got 'legal' pressed plates that I haven't needed to take off Should look into it if you want a cleaner look, but that's only my opinion! You might actually like the look of the surround more!

My plates came yesterday, I'm pretty pleased with them but as above they are not legal even without the German logo.
Saying that, my brother has had his fitted for nearly two years and had no trouble, but I always keep the legal plates in the boot just in case, and the holders hopefully will make swapping the plates over an easy job! They're really good quality and genuine pressed aluminium plates. Just waiting for my holders to arrive and I'll get them on! |
