Cheap or free: Lightly damaged 2007 E91 front bumper skin (silver)
Hey all. I have a 2007 328xi wagon and got my OEM front bumper skin replaced last Fall. A deer had run out in front of me, and I hit its rear leg with the front-right of the car. No damage whatsoever except a couple small impressions in the bumper which spidered the paint. My body repairman said it was best to replace the bumper, as the original had been repainted, apparently not very well, and re-spraying correctly and trying to patch the indentations would be more time consuming. So, it's sitting in my garage. I was going to cut it up and toss it but if someone near me could use it for something, come and get it. I'd love a small donation but I'll give it away if I must. I'm 25 minutes southwest of Harrisburg, PA right off of Rt. 15. (25 minutes north of Gettysburg). I will try to snap a couple quick photos when I get home tonight. NO, I WILL NOT SHIP IT. |

Your body shop guy scammed you (or the insurance company). He could have easily fixed that and repainted it....I had a similar repair done, no problem.
Anyway, this is a great deal for anyone with an E90/91 who is in need of a factory bumper.

No he didn't, and it was cheaper than a re-spray would have cost. Difficult to see in the photos but the indentations and dimpling would require some body work to get out, if I'd wanted it 100% perfect. I went through a run-around with the insurance on this. Like all insurance companies, they want to take the easy/cheap route, rather than doing the job correctly whereas my repairman (who I've used before) is superb.

well, it looked a lot like mine with the spider cracks under the clear coat. Anyway, I was trying to draw some good attention to your bumper by showing it's definitely fixable.

Yes for sure, but in my case it was less expensive to just get a new one. There's definitely no major damage, it's just got some dimpling and blemishes that'll take some elbow grease to get out, prior to a good paint job. Apparently it'd been re-sprayed once before by the previous owner to some extent as well, though I know nothing about that.
Very good condition overall, indeed. |
