guys, you need to read the thread. ThunderDump listed a SIB back a few pages. Search for Shopping Cart Bug.

A couple of years ago, I had a problem where my CIC system in my 09 335ix would suddenly go dark and then reboot while I was driving. This was accompanied by a loud noise from the speakers - a bit shocking when it happened. After two repeats of this, I took the car in of course, and the dealer couldn't find any error codes or reproduce the problem, so they just updated the CIC software to see if that would fix things. It did!

I suppose anyone's car could develop the same problem, and if the car was still under warranty, it would get a free software update.

Post 2013 FSC last 2 characters?

A while back, ******* had posted that 2011 codes ended in BQ, 2012 ended in CA.

(His post: http://owners.www.bimmerfest.com/for...&postcount=125)

Can someone share what the 2013 code ends in?

Thanks.

It's official, I am the dumbest poster on e90!

Any ideas? I can confirm the USB port DOES work.

Anyone willing to send me their USB? I will pay shipping both ways and throw in some other things too.
Well, I am an idiot. A co-worker has a brother who is a BMW mechanic. I spoke with him over the phone and he quickly pointed out my not-so-obvious mistake. I was NOT using the USB port in the glove box; I was using the USB port in the center console.

Tried with glove box and it immediately worked for me. Heck, I may not have even needed the software update!!!

It's all good now, though, I am updated with 2013 maps.

the files can be reused indefinitely as long as all cars are CIC but each car will require its own FSC code.

USB glove box connector

The USB connector in my glove box is the mini connector. When all on this forum discuss using the USB in the glove box, is it this mini connector? I assume you all are using an adapter cable. CORRECT? Or do some have the full size connector?

The file that is available on the torrents, once download is completed, will contain 1 folder (called pkgdb) and a file called config.nfm

I simply copied that folder and file onto a formatted (fat32 in my case) 32gb flash drive.

In terms of installation, I inserted the USB drive into the glovebox USB port and powered up the car (accessory mode or car start). I did accessory mode, but turned off climate fan/angel eyes and auto headlights to minimize battery drain.

Once the Nav has booted, a screen will pop up telling you a navigation update is available and asks if you want to upgrade. Hit 'yes' and it will prompt you for the FSC code. Once a valid code is entered, it will transfer the upgrade files to the hard drive (took me about 30 minutes - so much faster than the DVD's!). After the upgrade, it will ask you to reboot the system. Hit OK and your CiC goes dark and boots back up with the applied Nav update.

If for any reason the process is interrupted, it will pick up where you left off next time you power it up. No need to enter the FSC code more than once.

Hope that helps.
Thank you for that detail.

Wasn't aware I needed to copy those two items directly to the root. They were already housed in BMW_CIC_NAVIGATION_NORTH_AMERICA_2013 folder which I assumed was ok to transfer directly to the root of the USB...but unfortunately the car wasn't reading it.

Copied both to the root and am now heading back out to try again...

I haven't seen one yet that didn't have a full sized USB connector in the glovebox, no adapter cable required. You do have to use the glovebox connector; I'm not sure what the difference between the two is, but it will only work there, it won't work in the one in the console.

Mine indeed has a mini USB socket as opposed to the full size plug. Odd. Anyone else have a mini USB socket in the glove box?

Just checked your profile, do you still have a 2007? If so you're probably in the wrong thread :/ we're talking about CIC here not CCC - I expect that you have the earlier DVD-based nav system. Not sure what a mini usb would be used for on an '07 though - or is that perhaps the power for the flashlight that I don't have?

Oh OK never mind then. that's odd though, I have so far personally updated my '09 E92, a 2010 E90 x-drive, and one other car (also newer than mine, but I just spent several minutes trying to find the guy's username so I could look up exactly what his car was and I'm failing miserably - I just remember that it was also an E90 335i x-drive but don't remember what year) all three of those cars had a standard USB port in the glovebox.

If you were local I have a universal USB cable that I could configure to adapt that to a standard female USB, or just get one off eBay (for some reason stores seem to think those things are made of diamond-crusted platinum...)

Thanks for all the info to everyone who has helped out here -- am just grabbing the torrent and will (of course) reseed.

Next project: FSC code. (But will sleep a little first....)

Hi all, I'm after some guidance, I have downloaded the European premium 2013 maps, from a well know sailing affiliated torrent site! They are all in one folder , when I open this folder I have 3 ISO images (2013_1.so 2013_2.so and 2013_3.so), If i click on each of these, inside is a config.nfm and a pkgdb file. I understand I have to open these and mount these on the USB, but the config.nfm and pkgdb files are identical (as far as identity) so when I try copy them across (on a MBP) it asks if I want to replace. Do I have to name the contents of ISO 21013_2 & 3 differently? ie config.nfm2 & 3 and pkgdb2 & 3?

Any help would be greatly recieved
