I had the same thing on my previous e92. I always speculated it was the pads getting stuck. As usual when I brought it to the dealership I couldn't get it to click. So annoying; good to know cleaning and lubing will take care of it.

Ok so I had my brakes done from BMW and that is when it started. If you have the time and ability take the caliper off the rotor... Take both pads out and regrease(break squeal) and also make sure to lube the 2 pins that the carrier rides on. When I took it apart the only think lubed was the inner pad. IMO the pins were sticking and not allowing the components to free flow.

Do you happen to have a sound clip of this clicking?
I hear a loud click from my rear brakes (only when I'm driving backwards... like to park the car). But I'm not sure if it's the brake... |

I had the same problem. It is the same problem, try taking out the pins on the caliper first. They a 7 mm hex bolt and one is longer than the other. The bolt head faces to the center of the car with a rubber cap covering them. Put some brake grease on them and slide them back in, do one at a time.
