This is really pathetic! It is fairly simple. All he/she has to do is log into the BMW DCS, go to vehicle inquiry, enter the production # and click on one of the various statuses. An example posted below.

I don't doubt the simplicity, but before I got a chance to call the manager, he called back to say it will be at the dealership this afternoon. Unbelievable. Anyway, I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help, lord only knows what the actual trek of my car was, I can see how any of the dates lined up. Anyway...

Sadly, the dates were changed over night. NY on the 20th and Charleston on the 26th. I would not be surprised if it was changed again as the ship gets closer to the US.

I think my car must be on the Torrens, due in Pt. Hueneme 12/28, but my dealer says DCS shows the ship due 1/3 and he can't see the ship name. Also, the WW tracking site doesn't recognize my VIN, so I'm kind of stuck on the tracking front. Hmmph.

"In transit limbo!" >>> I feel your pain... I tracked my ship which arrived and departed at Charleston on 12/18. Called my dealer today and his assistant said the ship is due in port tomorrow 12/22. I told the her I tracked it and the ship has actually been on its' way back to Germany for 3 days now... response... "well sometimes our information isn't that up-to-date." Double Hmmph!

Amusing that we know more than the dealers, at least most of the time.

Next ship is not due into Charleston until the 26th.

Amusing isn't exactly the word for it. I got the same "we don't have the shipping info" lamiosity that someone got earlier in the thread. So I sent my dealer a copy of the page in DSC that shows the shipping info and told him how to get there. No response. I think they must be told not to share this info for some reason.

Moondog--hang in there, you'll have it soon (nice spec, too).

BMWs (and MINIs) go to Port Hueneme (why-knee-me), not San Diego. PH is north near Oxnard, between LA and SF.

Why does the first post list San Diego's website? I thought maybe there was a way to see PH traffic, but if there is I couldn't find it. Unfortunately, the PH site doesn't report traffic so it's basically useless, too.

Am I missing something?

It's there for informational purposes as many ships stop in SD before heading to PH. It gives you an ETA for PH.

Ah, makes sense. When I got my last 330xi and later my MINI, they both came on WW ships so they didn't go through SD.

For some reason no ship name shows up in DSC for any of the cars that are on the same ship as mine. Supposedly left Bremerhaven Nov. 29 and is should arrive in Pt. Hueneme Jan 3. And it's on an NYK ship, so no tracking (the NYK schedules page is carp). Maybe it's the Fuji going through San Diego Dec. 31.

Yes NYK Lines site su&ks majorly. What did your SA tell you?

In fact, I'm hoping my car is on the Fuji too. There's another ship, Aegean Leader, scheduled to arrive SD on the 5th, I believe.

SA said that DCS doesn't show the ship and he doesn't know why, but supposedly it's due to arrive at PH Jan 3, which sort of splits the difference between the Fuji and Aegean Leader. Interesting to note that Aegean leader is apparently going to PH before it goes to SD (shows up as Last Port) so maybe that's the one due Jan 3.

Hi there,

What's SA and DCS?? My sales person told me that my car is on Aegean Leader and it's due to arrive Jan 5th. Now that I see PH is showing up as last port ( It was Panama Canel ), hopefully it means it will get to PH earlier. I am checking with my sales person. If I get anything new, I will post it here. Thanks.

SA is Sales Advisor (your dealer salesperson in BMW-speak).
DCS is the computer software system they use to track cars.

1800 number says my vehicle is being transported to the port of exit, yesterday it was in the paint shop.

Is now the time to start tracking my car using those shipping websites? Looks like I might make it on the Hual Tokyo (NYK Line) if so. I'm assuming ETS means (Estimated Time to Sail) and ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) into Port Hueneme?

ETS: 1/16/2006
ETA: 2/6/2006

It doesn't seem quite correct that's only a 21-day trip and I don't think that's possible to do. Typically the fastest Bremerhaven to PH runs take 26-days.

Thanks for answering CALIF65GM. I went back and did another search for possible ships and I used NYK's schedule website:

http://www.nykline.com/servlet/com.i...heduleSearchPg

My search turned up empty for ships departing from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme. Even if I set the departure date back to January 2005, it showed no schedules. If anyone can shed some light on this, that'd be great.

Thanks in advance.

The NYK site is useless. It never shows any ships in the search results as far as I can tell. Best thing to do is go by the Bremerhaven site until your ship shows up on the list in San Diego.

Hey, my SA told me today that my car is at the prep center, so it must have got off the Fuji or Aegean Leader as expected. I'll be driving it some time next week!
