LEVL 10 Tranny?

So what are the options if any for an AT to be able handle pretty good power that the singles Turbo kits are putting down?

What is Terry doing about his tranny in the 135?

There are none. Once you venture much clear of 500WTQ or so, you are pushing things. Especially with how the single’s curve just doesn’t let up at redline.

Terry is considering a LVL10 build I believe. I doubt it will work, but wish him the best of course. Would be great if there were a viable option. But just IMO, until someone gets into the TCU and can get the mechatronics to play nice, it’s irrelevant.

Of all of the car forums I've been a part of over the years, I don't think I've ever seen Level 10 solve a transmission issues. Not sure how they're still in business.

Because the specialize in other trans rebuild/upgrades... The physical components are probably fine, the TCM reprogramming is the problem (same as the DCT) to properly utilize the upgrade.

probably because very few people put out anything close to those numbers and then care to "upgrade?"

This, plus it's not as easy as just slapping a few new parts in it as others have explained. There needs to be some TCU work, which is apparently not an easy thing to crack into.

Word. Hopefully a shop out there will still find value in coming up with a solution on an old/dead platform

Torque. Too much heat up top with a single turbo. It's just a matter of when.

You should try out a dedicated tranny cooler first. It won't be very expensive relatively speaking, who knows maybe it let's you hold more like 550WTQ. It's not like the stock box with alpina flash is way off, it's pretty strong.

Didn't Lostmarine smoke his?

I don't hate on them at all, it just seems that for single turbo applications where there is so much heat up top, w/out access to the TCU the hardware is irrelevant. That's nothing against LVL10.

He didn't "smoke" his. He sold his car because of unresolvable misfire issues. (which today, would likely be fixed). Sometimes it sucks being an early adopter.

and FWIW, I've put 100+ 60-130 type pulls on my bone stock 6AT tranny with RB turbos, and I have no issues to this day. Car runs like a champ still.

Gotcha. Yea the stock ZF box is a good one, for sure. But for anyone looking to really push things, it won't hold.

I think AK335I is putting down 642whp and 550tq and tranny is holding up good any more power after that the tranny would slip, I think he might be going with a 4 speed GM tranny not sure
