Tyre Shine??
Bit of an anorak type question - but can anyone recommend a tyre shine product to dress my tyres - one that leaves tyres really deep shiny black and lasts more than a day BUT one that doesnt splash up the side of the car and cover the alloys as soon as you drive away?? Ive tried so many products and always apply with a paint brush rather than spray on etc but they always end up coating the sides of my car etc. Help!!!

You need to wait longer to let it dry mate, thats why it covers the rims. I recommend arexons stuff. I will get the name for you.

No touch Tire Shine has always been good to me, and it's available locally.

Meguiars Endurance Tyre shine is certainly one of the more durable tyre dressings. To stop it flying off everywhere, don't apply too much and buff it off with a cloth.
Can be obtained from Halfords. |

Tried a few different products but really rate this stuff, Chemical Guys - V.R.P Dressall, it also works wonders on interior trim too!!

I use Zymol stuff.
Not cheap, but if applied properly it lasts well and doesn't cover the sides of my car with gunk.

I've just started to use BMW's own and it's good, the first time you use it you'll need to put on two coats, it comes in a pump action bottle, I spray it onto an applicator then apply and then it doesn't go all over the rims.
Oh and it costs around a fiver. |

All sounds good - i must admit that i dont always let the tyre shine i use dry for long enough before i drive away. I tried wiping the excess away but when ive done this the tyres never look quite as shiny!! I will try some of the products you guys have suggested and let it dry longer. Thanks again.

If you do try Meguiars, I'd apply it with a 12" paint brush, it went on better for me, but I think I still prefer the BMW stuff.

I use Chemical Guys new look trim gel. Goes on easily and seems to last quite well, though you shouldn't put too much on or it will tend to run/streak when it gets wet the first time.
Zymol is also very good, but puts more of a matt finish on and takes a lot of product to do effectively.

You're only supposed to apply it to the sidewalls, not the tread!

I only use Zymol products, and can thoroughly recommend it,but as said, leaves more of a matt look than deep gloss.A friend has mothers tyre dressing, and must admit that it does look good and no spraying on the alloys or panels.

The biggest mistake people make when applying tire dressings is to apply it to dirty tires. Any tire dressing on a dirty tire will sling before it dries, or disappear after it dries. Give those tires a good scrub with an all purpose cleaner and a stiff brush, and just about any tire dressing work.

I use Autoglym Tyre dressing (available everywhere) it is effective and find it lasts. The tyre must be clean prior. Using the spray applicator works but for longer last brushing on is the way to go.
Let us know what you try and your thoughts.....
