It's active aero. It has the wing fully up until 150-160 then it comes down for highspeed

Actually the ignition key is used to activate the top speed mode which prevents the rear spoiler from deploying at all. The key is removed from the ignition and placed into a "lock" that I believe is on the left side of the driver and then reinserted in the ignition. It give full power to the motor and locks out the spoiler.

I'm guessing by the comments that most people here didn't watch the second race.
Yes, the GT-R can be made into a monster for sure and with even 800hp could probably keep pace with a Veyron because it weighs quite a bit less.
2nd race was what I figured would happen. First race the Veyron obviously wasn't on it.

It's power to weight... Big deal really. They're running in a straight line for god sake. If one car runs 10s then it doesn't matter if it was a billion dollars. A 9 second civic "beats" it

Back in the C5 Z06 era (02) we had guys on Corvette forum break into 9s. ZR1, Z06, Mustang, Viper, 911, Gallardo... ALL of these cars have "Veyron beaters". That's really not the point of the Veyron honestly, but I get that many are just fixated on drag times and TX mile run speeds.

It's ludicrous to think that because the Veyron is $1M it should somehow magically be "unbeatable". Maybe if it had countermeasures? Roflmao. Like it could deploy oil slicks.

You certainly can't stop someone from taking any POS and getting it to run 9s so it can take the Bug in a straight line though.

And yes, the GTR is absolutely a POS next to the Bug. I owned one about a year and moved on. It's a great regular car that can go really fast for cheap (like a Mustang, Z06, previous GTRs going back 3 generations, MKiv Supras, Evos, Vipers and the list goes on), but it isn't a friggin Veyron! (Sort of hilarious even having to say that)

Anyone who gets some sort of ego validation from their car being modable to "Veyron speed" should just study this list (spoiler... There is a 210mph 1997 VW GTI on it):

The Veyron was introduced by the head of VW before the engineering team had a chance to evaluate it the styling. After he made the claims about 250MPH in public they all freaked out because the thing was a brick. The concept got tweaked, and they still needed 1000Hp and a special low drag mode to meet the target top speed. If you tap the brakes once on the way to 250MPH the spoiler pops up, and you have to stop and insert the key in the door to reactivate it.

This is how I've always felt. Bugatti's only goal was to have the highest top speed in the world. They had to dethrone the McLaren F1 which was almost untouchable for a decade. I do believe the original Veyron only held the record for not even a year. Didn't the Koenigsegg CC8(X) trump them immediately after they broke the F1's record?

I don't understand the argument about the Veyron letting off in the video though. They both have AWD, and the Bugatti weighs substantially more. Shouldn't it have just as much, if not more traction..
