I have no kids... That's how. I have now girl friends, just women. Those two things gives you lots of $ for a BMW!

The only reason the IRS should be auditing you is if you do not have an income where you could realistically come up with whatever 45 or 55k for the car. It's like saying you gave 300k to the United Way, but you work at Best Buy and make 19k per year. Something is not jiving in your story. Maybe there are details that you are leaving out. Paying cash for a car is very commonplace, and there is nothing at all illegal or suspicious about it. My wife bought her 2011 car cash, and it was over 40k. What was interesting, is that when my wife offered to get a cashier's check, the dealer said a personal check is fine and would be easier.
LOL a personal check is NOT the same as cash. When i bought my 335 i traded my s4 and brought the difference in 100's. 16k in hundreds. They insisted i write them a check and deposit the money within 24 hours... Depositing the 16k into the bank doesn't LOOK GOOD, but i did it. This also has to be sent to the IRS. Ever deposit any amount over 10k banks require you to fill out a form that is evaluated by the IRS... This is not auditing. Auditing is if they saw that you deposited this, and cared to look into it, which hey, they always can if they want. Personal check is NOT cash. and FYI people, dealerships hate cash. They want financing, as they make much more money off of it.

Bingo, totally right! Personal check is not cash to the IRS. But for their protection, I would have thought they'd want a certified check or cashiers check, but they accepted an ordinary personal check (didn't matter to my wife there is no charge for cashiers check with her bank anyway). p.s. the suspicious activity report can be done at anytime for small unusual withdrawals, look at how Eliot Spitzer went down....

work.

well.. if you can call it that anymore

i worked pretty hard for about two years as a property manager/developer.

now i just own some properties and collect rent. i really only go into the office if our firm is in the middle of some important project. being as we just completed 3 huge projects, it's going to be smooth sailing for a couple months

Hopefully this thread is meant in a "as a matter of fact" type of way. Of those who responded, was the car new, or used? Because no car is an "achievement" per se.

What would be meaningful in reality is if some business owners shared how they created multiple businesses with 1 bil. revenue each, and how they did that with only say 50 or 100 or 200k. Those people don't always share their "secrets." LOL

Wife and saved money and spent in moderation for most of our lives together and apart. Wife convinced me to finally splurge on myself. Daughter convinced me to try a Bimmer. Compared it to the Lexus I350 and Infiniti G. BMW was clearly a better car.
