Alpina D3 software on 120d or 320d E90

Hi guys,

I am posting this new thread because I need to share with you my experience with the Alpina software in these 4-cylinder turbodiesel engines. As you probably know in the earlier stage the 120d and 320d were rated with 120 kW power. In classic SP-Daten for WinKFPt I have found the Alpina D3 software (in year range 2006 - 2007 were Alpina D3 engines single turbo) which actually fits into the ECUs of the mentioned diesel engines. Power output should be somewhere 140 - 147 kW (in SP-Daten is marked with 140 kW but official Alpina info is 147 kW).
I am personally driving petrol 6 cylinder but some of my friend convinced me to flash their 120d/320d ecu with this software.
And here are the results:
- no problems detected in immediate diagnostics, no problem detected in 2 weeks later diagnostics
- no problems detected in the engine behaviour or other parts of the vehicle
- no problems detected in indash control lights
- bigger power output was significantly recognizable after first flooring of throttle
- turbo kicks in classic 1800 rpm as the original software but this kick is much stronger than before
- engine is able to run till 5000 rpm without any sign of power loss
- engine runs acousticly very smoothly
- software can be used only with equipped particle filter system
- vehicle itself is much faster than before

So it looks very good on the first and second look after two weeks. My friend has proper instructions to monitor the car behaviour and in case of any problem we are going back to original 120 kW software.
If someone wants to try as well you can find the Alpina D33 software in E89/data/DDE604 folder with assembly number 7811922.
Theoretically software can be used also with 118d and 318d 90 kW versions.
I will keep you informed.

How much time did it take to write this on 320D?
Will you require additional battery support?

I forgot to mention that in WINKFPt this software is marked as 7811921 under DDE604. You go to Comfort mode, click on Choose ZUSB and find 7811921 somewhere in DDE604 .. Then OK, enter VIN and DONE. Then click on Program and it should start flash. I used classic OBD K-Line cable and I haven't used any battery charger since the flash is not longer than 15 minutes. In case of problems just let me know.

Because first you have to download SP-Daten files (it is about 12 GB - contains ECU softwares) and import them to WinKFPt. If you don't do that WINKFPt has no software available to flash. I already don't know where it is but if you look for importing files into WinKFPt you should be successful in searching.

looking in the UIF in INPA i can see that the DME is now marked as 7811921 so it is Alpina software or not ?

the programing stages were about 3 i think 0-100%i was promted 2 times that the ecu can be flashed 60 times then after the third stage i think got the error ...

the car runs normal from what i can tell ...

This looks very interesting, as you might know BMW can now detect chiptunings in the ECU and all warranty on the car is lost. Is it possible that with the original Alpina file i can keep my warranty? I recently bought a car and still have Premium Selection warranty on it.

thought I should give an update.

I flashed 7811921 just fine - i had the DSC/ABS warning light after finishing, but went away when I took the key out and started the car. didnt have to use DIS.

but since I have a E90 320D 163ps, i dont have DPF - so I've had the DPF warning light on my dash all day. I couldnt find a way to get around this so I've reverted everything back!

but i must say the car felt different with the D3 software on, quite nippy. if only i could find some way to disable the DPF warning...

are you guys sure about the safety of the D3 software? i'm sure they used spec'ed up hardware too in the D3 from what i've read..

This is real or fake. Is it possible to put the car and is there a risk for this setup? wrote all that hardware is different in large turbo, injectors and intercooler.

This has been around for a while and yes it does work on the old M47 engines. Just a shame Alpina moved to bi-turbo when bmw moved the e90 320d to the N47.
