Austin, Texas Members
Anyone in the Austin area willing to meet up and give me some pointers on BMW's? I just recently purchased a 2006 325i and am pretty new to BMW's. I know a little because I was a car audio installer while in college but just curious to talk mods and such with anyone who has done some work or just loves cars. Thanks for reading and any help in advance.

Welcome to BMW ownership - I would recommend that you consider joining the BMW Car Club of America's Tejas Chapter, which covers Central and South Texas areas (Austin, SA, Corpus, and out to El Paso). We have many members who are very knowledgeable about various BMW models, a website with a calendar of our monthly events and non-club activities we have access to, and BMW of Austin offers our members a 20% discount on parts and labor. You can join the chapter at http://bmwcca.org, which will include discounts at a number of merchants, the monthly Roundel magazine, and a lot of other perks. Our membership numbers approximately 900, and we welcome new owners to the club!

Y'all are welcome! We will periodically also have local (SA-area) CCA member and non-member get-togethers just to meet and greet and talk cars, etc. We're due for another one next month, which we'll plan so as not to interfere with our next Chapter event on Feb. 19 (see the http://www.tejaschapter.org website for details.

FYI, there's a Grand-Am opener at COTA coming up March 1&2, and there will be a BMW Corral in Parking Lot B. You have to buy special tickets for this, but if they're sold out, be sure to come to the Corral, where there'll be a hospitality tent, lots of BMWs, etc.

The dealership is very nice if you have warranty. They always treated me well (when you're out of warranty they're expensive). It's BMW of Austin. If you're out of warranty I'd recommend one of the independent BMW mechanics. Personally I've used Black Forest Werkshop on Buell and German Auto Center on 183 and both I found to be good guys.

+1 for BMW of Austin service dept. and Black Forest. Never have been to German Auto Center, so I can't comment.

I've heard good things about Dr. Beemer on Slaughter, but after calling for a quote to get my SSK installed, opted to have BMW of Austin take care of it instead. Talk to Andy in service. He's always shot me straight and taken care of me with my 335 and my girlfriend's e70 X5!
