Trudat. 3.9 would actually be pretty ridiculous. Lord help those 911's and AMG's at those traffic lights next to the future M3's

Great to see BMW Canada getting its act together with the "ZED" (Euro delivery) option. Assume no big discount like the USA gets though.

Here's an excerpt from Road & Track's article about this car.

Quote:
Our brief experience with the 335is Coupes consisted of 8 rain-slick laps around Portugal’s famed Estoril circuit, but I can say the Sport-spec suspension and 140-treadwear Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires (225 mm front, 255 mm rear) offered reassuring grip, stability and composure in a chassis that simply refuses to do anything wrong or make its driver look bad. BMW claims a 0-60 time of 5 seconds flat with the DCT gearbox, easy to believe as we’re rocketing out of Estoril’s low-speed sweepers with an instant, gratifying hit of torque. Brakes carry over from the regular 2011 335i, but their rotors are generously sized (13.7 in. front, 13.2 in. rear) and only hinted at fade toward the end of the lapping session. And this sucker sounds good too, its sport exhaust issuing a lower-pitched resonant note that’s way short of obnoxious.

Where do you think BMW will position the 335is with respect to lease rates? MF and residuals closer to the 335 coupe or M3? If they are less favorable like the M3, I would really see no reason to buy/finance a 335is when the M3 is not that much more. My lease is up in November of this year so I'm hoping the rates are somewhat attractive.

Im in the same boat as you - and totally torn between a m-sport 335, a 335is or a used m3 ...

hopefully the next few months of reviews will solidify some sort of decision (and a test drive of course)

I assume you want a coupe? If you're not married to that concept.....consider this: in March of next year--all of 5 months after your lease end--comes the all-new F30 3-series sedan.

As far as I know, any way.

This is idiotic. No way I'd buy the car with the ugly aluminum fish-scale texture and huge 335is badge.

I guess it will be all in lease numbers for us! If unfavorable, I might get a S4 instead that looks pretty darn good!

Note the size of the tires on the 19" rim option.

245/35/ZR 19 front and 265/35/ZR 19 rear.

That is wider than the usual 225/255. I believe 245/265 are the same width as the M3.

Are the Bridgestone RE050 RFT's Z rated? Could it be these are non-RFT PS2's or something like that?

Also no mention that the overboost function is available with the DCT only. Good news for 6MT fans.

I believe only launch control is DCT only.

Weird how not a single review seems to mention the lack of LSD, which should have been an obvious thing to include in the 335is, no?

(Of course it's not that weird... it's because the reviewers are all just regurgitating the same PR material. )

The reviews are done by people that get invited by the company and treated nicely and are given a chance to drive the cars for free... it's hard to be like.. "are you idiots, no LSD and 320HP?"

The real review comes from the 1st customer that takes it to the track. Not to mention that most of the "reviewers" don't really know how drive those cars... making the tires squeal and going fast are 2 different things.

Haha, yes exactly. But it would have been nice to read "We asked BMW why there wasn't an LSD, since the Audi S4 has it, and they said... [something]."

Seems like BMW naturally wanted to keep the cost as low as possible on these final tweaks.

BTW, I'd love to see a magazine actually go a comparo of some really obvious mods, like tire changes, and an LSD, for example. (But I realize they need someone to fund that...) It's silly when they talk about how much grip certain cars have, or don't have, when you could just swap out the tires and get awesome numbers very easily.

thats what I'm waiting to find out too... most likely if I do choose to go this route I'll be waiting till at least Sept/Oct to place an order so I can gauge the leasing prices and stuff (along with letting my own lease run out).

I'm pretty sure you can already place your order if you head down to the dealership.
