320d joined by big brother, and M6 gone..
All collected and tucked up in the garage.
First a big thumbs up for Sytner Oldbury. They comprehensively battered anyone else both in terms of a)trade in given on the M6, b)lease price on the 640d, and c)speed/response/way of doing business. If you are looking at a new BMW, please speak to Nick Cunningham, and tell him Ed sent you. Top fella. The car seems to have been prep'd very well. No swirls or marks. I hadnt realised that they were going to supagurd (inside and outside), and was a bit worried about this, as the general consensus is (for paint) this product is generally pants, and even worse generally made worse by poor (quick) application. It will get a coat of decent wax regardless. I'll do a proper review in a week or 2, but so far I'm really impressed. All beautifully put together, silky smooth. Pull from low revs is very impressive, with a really serious amount of shove from bugger all revs (I guess 600NM of torque from 1500 revs would be the reason for that!) Unlike the SMG in the M, gear changes are very smooth too. Of course it is no V10, but the noise when pressing on is very un-diesel like. Despite running on bigger wheels than the M (20's), the ride quality is excellent. Driving back from Brum, doing between 70-90, the car averaged 46mpg. Pretty happy with that to be honest. More to follow. Pics are pre-pdi with sus. chocks in place -it is a lot lower now! |

That is a very nice motor, much better in terms of styling than the previous 6 series in my opinion. Like someone said, someday hopefully I ll afford one Enjoy buddy.

Car is def sitting less "4x4" now!
Original silly lease deals were for SE with only 8k per annum. This was an M Sport with 20 inch wheels and other than that, standard spec. 12k per annum in terms of miles, for a 30 month term. 30 months seemed to be a sweet spot - a lot cheaper than 24 months and not much more than 36. Standard spec is very generous: Prof media with hdd, connected drive, 10.4 montior, hdd etc USB Xenons Front and rear park Elec heted mem seats Heated seats Cruise Business Speaker system Other stuff I have forgotten. All for a few quid over £600 a month inc VAT for a £68,000 car.... |

like the sat nav on this one (the one in the new 3 series does look bit odd)
but they do look like some sort of tablet which are docked onto the dash, ready to undock and take away with oneself when leaving the car |

although it looks a bit awkward in the pics, the Nav screen is perfectly placed when you are in the drivers seat.
Only thing I am missing at the moment (apart from the noise of a V10!) is the Head-up display, and amazingly, the soft close doors (not shutting the doors hard enough!). I dont miss filling up every 200 miles, or SMG when manoeuvring!! |
