v2 datalog and run against VIP tuned 335

So, I was out datalogging my v2, and low and behold here comes another graphite e90 335 with VIP stickers on it.

Run 1 - I get a little jump on him from a roll, maybe 30, and hold the lead into 4th gear somewhere. My passenger who is a pretty good drag racer and back in the day a well respected street racer, says he thinks I was pulling him slightly.

We slow to talk - he says something about being banned from the boards for spamming, etc. I notice he has a single exhaust, and his car is loud. I think I surprised him, he says - what do you got - I say Procede v2. he says something about his tune, etc, but I can't really hear him well.

Run 2 he gets a big jump from the roll, and then we hold what I think is pretty much even up through 4th.

Then we slow, an M5 gets into the mix, they run and seem even, I use my better judgement and turn around, not wanting to go to see the inside of a jail cell today.

Anyway, the other point is TQ adjustment. At 90 %, I am seeing around 14.0 psi. At 92% like 14.2. At 94 - around 13.8 -?? so I try 95 - around 13.8?? Ok lets try 80% Around 13.8????

So I say Whatever and put it to 92 which seems to give me the most steady and highest at 14.2

Maybe I am doing something wrong - Can anyone give me some enlightenment????

Yes that sounds odd that with increase torque values you went down in boost.
Car was getting warmer each time so boost should have gone up especially with you setting the values higher. Either way your car sounds way fast.
Maybe someone else who has the same problem as you can help.

Nice runs. Did the VIP car have a passenger too?
If not, all the better you creeped on him a bit even with a passenger.

As for the torque settings:

Did you give the adjustments time to adapt (even driving 2-3 miles) between datalogging the various settings?
Did you datalog on the same road in the same direction?
Did you give your car proper cool down between datalog runs?
Did you do all the datalogs the same way and in the same gears?

If no to any of the above, I'd go datalog again first on 92% (do at least 3)
Make the changes to the torque settings (maybe go up to 93.3xx%).
Drive the car around normally and with a heavy foot for 10-15 minutes.
Then just cruise a bit and go back to your same datalogging place.
Turn the car off, let the car sit and cool for 5-10 minutes.
Do 2-3 runs at the 93.3% settings.
You should see an increase in boost.

If you are on 93 Octane, which you should be since you live in FL?
I'd put the settings up to 95% (at most) or until you see a peak of around 14.6-14.7 under acceleration. If you don't see over 14.5 with 95% settings, I'd just be happy at that point then.

Thumbs up

Driver 72,

The other car had a passenger also, but they were pretty small and young looking. Probably about 140-150lb's each, my buddy and I about 190 each.

Thanks for the info. I did not give the time to adapt between settings. That sounds like it could be the problem, I didn't think about that.
Yes I am running 93 octane, same road, same # of gears run.

Hmm, I thought that the VIP tuned Xede on 14 psi boost was suppose to run 11's easy, if so how did he get beat by a V2 only car with more weight and less mods?
Oh yeah, forgot Mike probably didn't have spray on his car like Jacque reportedly does but says he doesn't.

Wonder if Mike is going to post (on N54) that he got beat by a v2 PROcede car with less mods AND more weight?

Fun to stir the pot every now and again....

whatever he had, it was pretty loud and looked a bit odd with one big tail pipe and the empty space on the other side..... as for 11's, how many 335's are running 11's easily?

sleepdoc and I are hopefully hitting moroslow next week will report back....

The same Mike that asked for diagnostic help on the other forum and seemingly has no knowledge of the vehicle and how it functions. His ignorance and posting is bad PR for VIP, IMO.

Very few.
Most notably VIP Tuning claimed to have gotten 11.9 on their custom tuned Xede which they say was boosting 14 psi and a few other minor mods on DR's.
They claimed they "weren't pushing the car to it's limit" then.
They denied having used the bottle to get it, though no other tune has gotten 11.9's with similiar mods and pushing MORE boost than they are claiming.

Then recently they got a 11.2 with supposedly the same 14 psi boost, and still claiming no spray.
I think about 1 or 2 people believe that they weren't using spray.
Without out it, you need bigger turbos on these cars to make a 11.2 pass, and they claim they are on the stock turbos too, which most believe.
Soooo

Terry has come close with a 12.0 run (and could probably do 11.9 with slightly better conditions) but Terry was on JB2HHR which is 16-16.5 psi peak boost, on 97-98 Octane, with UR Catless DP's, two cone CAI system, lightweight 17" wheels, Drag Radials and a couple other minor weight reduction taken from his car (which is about 100 lbs less than most 335i's anyway since he has probably the only base 335i on these boards).

So Terry, with more boost, on race gas, on drag radials cutting 1.6x 60' times would be .7-.8 seconds slower in the 1/4 than VIP's car.
Terry would need at least 60-75 rwhp more to equal VIP's timeslip.
You do the math.

Not talkin Shit, just talking probability.
No other car has come CLOSE to the numbers he posted especially with a claimed 14 psi boost.

That would be like someone claiming they ran a 12.8 on a stock 335i.
Would be pretty hard to believe?

FYI, nothing against Jacque, but there are people who know him too who have said he is on spray, just so you know.
I don't know him and am not claiming either way, but with the mods he's listed and the boost he's claiming, 11.2's are pretty unbelievable to most.
