yellow steering lock fault light

Had the fault happen for the first time the other day then again 2 days later so I booked the car in..
Its a 55 plate 320d and I've got the extended warranty..the car has only done 18k miles so what I'd like to know is what are the chances of BMW making a goodwill gesture and covering my £100 xs? I know this is a very common fault which is well documented on here!
I know they may try and fob me off and say that the warranty covers it...but why should I pay the xs?
Also being charged for a courtesy car!! Is that right?
