Thoughts on higher mileage 335i

Thanks, I saw that one, too. Not sure about purchasing a lemon buyback, though. I was going to post about this one, too but pretty sure I know what peoples responses would be. The HPFP and low pressure sensor were replaced but my only question would be... what else is so wrong that that had to buy it back? Although I would have almost a year under CPO to find any issues, which would be a positive.

Anybody on here ever buy a manufacturer buyback because the price/options were right? If so, any regrets?

mate, miles mean nothing. just have it checked out properly and get a CPO... you could buy a 335 with 21k and get non stop problems, it's all about how the car was cared for... get it checked out. if it's sweet then go for it.

Be prepared to spend some money on a higher mile car and you need to keep away from the main dealers and find a good independant garage.

My 335i manual has done just over 180,000 miles, its a 2006, its still on its original clutch, turbos, injectors, has never had blast cleaning done - so just because you dont hear about it does not mean there are not high miler 335's running fine.

I've had other 335i at 70k miles and 47k miles and this 180k mile cars drives almost as well as the other ones, does not feel loose or tired to drive, (its got full bmw history).

I've had some issues with plugs and coil packs recently and I am prepared for some bigger problems but the risk is offset by the lower price you pay for a high miler. Things to expect are sticky door handles, front headlamp washers falling off.

Once they are over 3 yrs old the 3 yr warranty runs out and at best you will be on an aftermarket used approved warranty which will never cover all potential problems.

I think it just depends on your budget what you can afford and if you are able to cope with the potential large bill which could arise (and keep away from bmw main dealers!).

Thanks, yeah it seems mileage hasn't been a common problem for the issues that most are experiencing.

Win! It is good to hear that your 335i is still running strong. I just got mine used with 60k and was skeptical about buying a BMW 3 series with some mileage on it but I bought a full warranty.

Is your car flashed, have a chip or have a piggy back also?

My big mileage 335 is running standard boost, I bought it high mileage so if I was going to up the power I'd spend some money taking the head off, cleaning it up, checking the bores, new head gasket etc.

Dealer won't even email/call me back about what service records it has.

True, however; there are some people who like the rigidness/safety of the car compared to Camry or Civic.. There are others who like the driving feel of the car so regardless of mileage and if a good maintained bmw can be found, i'd say it's a good buy as long the price is reasonable.

As much as i like the Camry and other cars, it's hard to resist the driving feel of the bimmers.

OP, if that's the car you like.. make sure you have it fully checked out by a professional (little money spent well worth it in the long run) look for any previous accidents and as much challenge there is keep searching for any repair or maintenance records you can find.

I don't have a 335 however my car is approaching 133K so far and have no issues. Good luck to you.
