2006 e92 325i auto gearbox warning light help?

I've just got in my car started it up which it struggle to do then a yellow gog like warning light came on the dash.
I then started to drive home can the car was stuck in one gear,I tried sport mode to try and change gear in manual mode but nothing happen still stuck in one gear so I limped all the way home.
I selected reverse gear when got home and it changes with a right thump.
So I'm guessing I have a gearbox issues the car has done 64k miles.
Anybody had the same problem with their car and know of a fix?
Thanks in advance

I've just tried the car again 1 hour later and guess what no warning light!
And the gear change seems to be smooth,I have noticed in the last week the car is starting to struggle to start up from cold in the mornings so It looks like the battery might need changing.
Would a low battery cause a gearbox warning light to come on?
I'm not to good on cars when they start going wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.

Could be a torque convertor on it way out or one of the many solenoids. You may want to give it a oil and filter change. BMW love to say the gearboxes are sealed for life, but that is total BS and and all auto gearboxes can do with an oil change around 60K miles.

You are probably going to a gearbox specialist to have it carried out.
