so boo, you would like to see e92 rear light cluster design in e90? i still prefer the e90 front grille, more modern.

I think the gril on e90 is perfect. Just the tailight that needs change.

The problem with the E46 sedan facelift is that the sharp creases, corners and artistically sweeping lines (which show obvious signs of flame surfacing) look absolutely silly in conjunction with the more squared off, geometrically patterned lines on the rest of the body. It looks great from head on (where all you see are the facelifted changes), but the 1/4 and 1/2 views expose this flaw for all to see.

The moment I saw the facelifted sedans, I had this feeling that something was wrong with it - but I personally have an eye and taste for symmetry and uniformity in design.

I always thought the 'facelift' for the E46 was an attempt to smooth out the transition to the forthcoming E90, so it did not look radically out of synch with BMW tradition. Kloos & van Hooydink integration.

Hey StressDr, nice point about the transition design I'd bet you are close to right on. I think both cars look very nice - I'm just having a hard time with the eyebrow on the hood thing. I think it will grow on me - especially when I'm shifting from second to third at about 4500 rpm...

The eyebrows in the kidney grills come from the 6er. Sometimes I like them sometimes I don't. They probably didnt want to put that on the e92 or it would have looked like a baby 6er.

I always liked the pre-facelifted E46 frontend, but the tail lights were kind of sloppy looking. On the other hand, I did like the facelifted E46 rear end.

How do you think they'd look painted body color, along with the rest of the grille? Hmmm. I think they'd look very nice and it would tend to make them look less eyebrow like.

I did this mod on my X5 in Steel Gray and I think it looks very nice. Then again, I'm not a big fan of chrome.

I, too, think it's way too early to worry about a face lift of the E90 assuming BMW would stick to its traditions. However, I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) the E92 differs much more from the E90 than the E46 coupe differs from the sedan. This means that BMW is already deviating from tradition, so who knows exactly what they'll do when it comes to face lift.
