did good this semester so i bought myself a gift (golf related)

did pretty well this semester in my jr year of college probably my hardest semester so far, so after I got my final grades I thought i would buy myself something a little nice for all the hard work

http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1242431897

its the 2009 taylormade CGBR7 3 wood I had a callaway big Bertha but it was time to replace it. I'm very happy with this new club i went to a driving range and was hitting anywhere between 220-230 yards rather then 210

+10~20 yards is really good.

Enjoy your new driver.

I use their driver. Love the weights. Can adjust for a draw or fade too.

you know I'm not a driver person I can never get good distance with a driver for some reason, but with a 3 wood I'm always getting constant yardage

Learn to hit one. It will add 50+ yards to your tee shot and save strokes for every round.

My clubs were $999 when I got them, but I found a golf shop going out of business and liquidating their inventory so I only paid $499 for them. I was prepared to pay the full amount too.

oh damn haha that's awesome, I usually go to a local golf smith shop for my golf clubs since they can custom fit your clubs for you and all that stuff. I like golf but its so damn expensive so far I've spent probably 1500 for my set which is really cheap compare to what some other people are paying. I really want the new Taylormades that have the carbon fiber on the back lol

FYI, if your swing speed is high enough, steel shafts are the only way to go.

Reading he hits the new 3 wood 230, it seems he has a slower swing speed. I think most factory graphite is way over priced but custom may be a good option for him.

3 woods are a curse for me. I hit my R5 10 degree/x-stiff blue driver around 295. A three iron around 225 but can't hit a 3 wood 180. So I went with a Taylor Made 2 utility. Get about 240 from it. Big gap between driver but it's the best I've got.

Around the green is my biggest nightmare now. Don't get to play as much and when I do this just kills my card.

Pound a 300 yard drive. Toss a little 9 iron just off the green then take 4 to get down. Ugh...

I'm the same way. I don't play fairway woods and I hit my 3 iron 225. Makes it impossible to eagle long par 5's and birdie long par 4's, but it's all I've got. I'm hesitant to pick up those hybrids even though so many people swear by them.

I meant Rescue not hybrid. The hybrid still looks and sets up too much like a wood for me. The Rescue gives me more of an iron look. For whatever reason, if I set a wood down on the fairway/rough I know already it is going to be a bad thing. You are pretty close to San Antonio...La Cantera Resort is one of my faves in the state. Palmer course ftw! Spice rubbed rack of lamb in that joint upstairs in the evening!!!!

I actually got a good deal on it since I'm a loyal customer to the shop it was 250 but only paid 200 (with custom fitting). I'm sure i can hit it up to 250 I wasn't really swinging my hardest due to driving range balls tend to damage the club face since there balls are like rocks almost. I'll have to wait till I play next week to see how far it'll go with a pro V1 (i swear by this ball).

In my case I like playing with my 3 wood only i haven't used my driver in some time now, but plan on taking some lessons with it. And I'd have to say my short game is way better then my long although I'm not that bad with my long game either.

Most range balls don't help with any kind of yardage work.

Graphite is also a lot easier on the hands. Especially if you play/practice often.

Regarding "long" and such. I can drive certain par 4's and all that but have had my lunch handed to me by guys who hit a driver 220. An all around game is the key.

yup anyone can nail a golf ball but can they do it in all 18 holes, most likely not that's why golf is so damn frustrating lol
