My 'pimped' C63 interior
My 3-week C63 'drought' is over , I finally picked the car up (again!) from AMG yesterday after they transformed the interior of my car.
After owning the M6 which had a full-leather dash option (and was absolutely stunning inside,) I knew that I really could make the C63 a special car by taking advantage of AMG's official Performance Studio facility where they will pretty much trim your car in any way you want! I appreciate that this won't be to everyone's taste, especially if you're a fan of black interiors (which, to be honest, I'm fed up of!) but this really is one of the most special interiors that I'll probably ever have the pleasure of owning and one that I can say I now prefer to my previous M6. Whilst there, I also chose to improve a couple of very minor 'details' on the interior. Firstly, I had the cheap plastic door locking pins changed to metal AMG branded ones. I also had the plastic Mercedes star on top of the gearlever changed to a laser-etched metal AMG Affalterbach one - this really does look and feel stunning in real life! Little details, but they've absolutely delighted me! After getting up at 4am to get the (cheap!) flight to Stuttgart, I spent a few hours following the missus round the shops in the city whilst they finished the car which I finally picked it up at 3pm. To say I'm not in rush to repeat that drive home so late in the day is an understatement...the Friday evening traffic on the German autobahn meant I spent far too long stood still rather than sitting on the C63's limiter....although my decision to stop for an hour to wait for the rush hour to end worked very well as it created the opportunity for a few 150mph+ runs I was then pulled into the customs search area at Dover where I wasted another hour of my life. They couldn't comprehend what I had done, why we had no luggage and ultimately treated my very suspiciously! In the end didn't get to bed until 3am this morning! Here is the front of my car this morning..... |

Wow Andy that does look superb
I fully agree with you even the little things make a big difference. Your car goes from strength to strength, let me know when you want to get rid of it .... only joking.

Lovely finishing
The guys i got my sound system fitted by in Glasgow said there's a place up here that does all the manufacturers options for interiors like that. i.e the car is made standard and then they go down to the docks or nearby and retrim the car. i.e the trim isn't done at manufacture. Not sure if it's true but it shows you (like you've done) that you can really get your car looking good after it's been built. I drive my car at night too and the front of it looks like your most of the time. Enjoy |

Wow Andrew I love it, looks really classy imo. It certainly is 'all' in the detail.
Puzzled as to why customs pulled you over, what was their reasoning behind that? |

Looks good mate. You got a picture handy of it before (probably in one of your other threads but if you've got one handy...)
Can't beat a load of cow-hide .

Seriously; they are made specially so you can't just buy one off the shelf. You'd need to go directly to AMG and see if they'll make you one like I did! Quote:

Ah, nice one, that does look a massive improvement. Had the upper half been given the leather treatment of just the bottom??? The extra 'ivory' leather on the dash does look a treat.
I love the fact AMG actually felt the need to make their own locking 'knobs'.

The upper black half was already done in leather - this was done as a factory fit option (even though the car was sent to AMG to have this done before I got the car!).
Why they don't give the option to trim the whole lot in the first place I just don't know as looking at the difference, they'd surely sell a few! TBH, if I was to do it again, I wouldn't bother having the 'factory leather dash option' done in the first place. When I ordered the car, I wasn't aware that AMG had a design studio to do this work and what they could do...I thought the 'half' leather dash was all I could have! Now I know, I'd just take the plastic dash and then send it to AMG afterwards to have the lot done in one go. Not only would this have been cheaper but I would have had even more customisation options such as choosing the stitching colour on the top part etc. |
