what disapoints you the most about your E9X?

I've had my 2006 e92 335i SE for five & a half years now & over that time there have been a lot of things go wrong with it, I don't mean service items, but the small & expensive things that require lots of labour time & although I put up with it & get the issues sorted as & when they occur it does give me the hump.
Current issue is a leaking sump gasket, ah but it's only a sump gasket piece of piss easy job..or so you'd think, it was on the e36 so was the water pump. e9x oh no, it's 'nein, nein Tommy, you haz to drop ze front suspension sub frame in order to change ze sump gasket' no wonder they lost two world wars

my old e36 328i, I owned it almost 11 years & it was so reliable, I bought it same as my 335i when it was five years old & it had covered 52000 miles & paid around the same money for it 10500, I paid 11500 for the 335i. I covered 85000 miles during that time & the only things that went wrong were the water pump, which the non franchised dealer I bought it from replaced under warranty, the radiator had to be replaced & the expansion tank sprung a leak & it sounded a bit taperty by the time it got to 90k other than service items, discs & shocks that was it.
The whole reason for me buying a e92 335i was because my e36 328is coupe was so good.

But my biggest disapointment with the e92 was & still is that it don't have rear pop outs.
I remember driving it away from the dealers & looking for the button to open the rear windows & not finding one, it really did take that ' I've just bought my new car & am so happy' feeling away, my e36 had manual rear openers that blew shut if you were pressing on a lot, so electric rear pop outs were going to be fantastic in my new 335i & they were going to look so cool

I've not had mine long, about 8 months I think but I love it. The only issue I've had is thermostats not letting it get up to temp fully but thats a common BMW failing so no big deal. At the end of the day I would be a fool to buy an 11 year old car and expect it to be totally trouble free.
One thing that baffles me about the E9x range is the lack of coolant temperature gauge. Yes I've got Carly and know the way to get it up on the dash in the hidden menu but all that shouldn't be necessary. Making it one of the scroll through menu functions would have been fine by me but no.......... A big oversight in my opinion.
As for your opening rear quarters, I've not had a BMW coupe before so hadn't thought about it before but now you come to mention it, it would be a nice feature to have.

Only had my E91 330d since August and I'm really happy with it. In fact it's booked in at BWchiptune on Tuesday for a remap. Can't wait!
However after owning a Ford for many years I bloody miss having a heated screen!

the seat lowering lever, to put it back up and raise the seat, you need to unweight the seat and pull the lever then it flies up....

on VAG cars it ratchets either way.... seems s shit design BMW use.

thats my hate

i thought it was broken but thats what it says in the manual! i always leave me seat in one place but my mrs moves hers all the time as not all my passengers are short...

Electric memory seats are the answer to that problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. Lol

E91 320i - the intermittent cold start misfire that started after a couple of days ownership (6 years old, 70k on clock) and not yet solved after a year.

Have owned various 90's VW's in the past for long periods of time and never had misfires or cold start issues. But I guess it's a sign of the times - increasing regulations on emissions/economy, engines and components have to get more complex... My MOT tester has a '17 plate VW caddy van, he mentioned a fuel injector had just died and would cost over 200 - so not a problem unique to BMW's then.

Apart from that, it's great, nothing else disappoints.

Simple one for me - reliability.

N53 engine has so many fragile supporting components that I have to keep 1500 spare just in readiness for the next failure. Not what I was expecting from a one owner car with 60k on the clock when we bought it 18 months ago.

I have to check every month for shadow fault codes and actually (sadly!) get excited when there are none logged (this has been the case on 3 of the 18 months so far).

The only that annoys me is the fact it's not an E91.
If it was a tourer I'd be so happy and maybe having the 8spd ZF auto gearbox.

Maybe the shitty sat nav is a disappointment and not being able to navigate to a postcode (I know you can update it but you shouldn't need to)

The thing that annoys me the most is the diff. All of that potential n54 power is wasted on an open diff.

Folding rear seats is an optional extra!? (E90) Oh and that the interior is very dated now.

Before you go blaming BMW for their controls not meeting your expectations try reading the owner's manual.

To indicate a left turn you press the stalk down - you knew that obviously. And to manually cancel the left indicator you press the stalk DOWN not up. OK now?

The Indicators sometimes catch me out even after having owned it for five & a half years.

Try a 2002 Vectra if that's a gripe. We had some on the fleet back in the day & they drove people crazy. The E90 is waaaaaaay better by comparison!

The thing that annoys me above anything else are the bongs. Bong for frost, for fuel, for seatbelts (well, not so much any more), for blown bulbs, for parking lights, for door being open...
