Arrow Where to get clutch replaced near San Antonio?

Hey guys jus moved out here from Charlotte an my clutch is slippin real bad.. I've never swapped a clutch before and I'd RATHER do it myself, but I don't wanna hit a snag and be out of a car for however long and have to figure out a way to get to work..

Anyone know a good spot to get a clutch replaced out here? I'm in Universal city near Randolph AFB.

Oh, and I'm goin with a 335is clutch kit and wanted to know whether or not I should try to get my flywheel resurfaced..
Some on here say it shouldn't be done, but some do it anyway? If I need a new one, I'll go that route, but otherwise.....

Hit up Berk at DBC tuning. He owned a 335i too. Really nice dude and they service Ferrari's and Lamborghinis too (just in case you're pushing a Murcialago on the weekends!)

Agree - Berk has been taking care of my Z4M and S4 - great service and decent indie prices.

I hit him up and might go with them, but he wouldn't really tell me much over the phone and said he wouldn't machine my flywheel without swapping the clutch due to warranty and etc.. Other shops I've been to seem to have no idea what a clutch is lol what's the deal with machining the stock DMFlywheel? Yea/na?

I thought you were swapping the clutch anyways? No? I would just go with a new clutch and flywheel combo. It's a lot of labor and I wouldn't want to have to do it all over again to save a couple hundred bucks.

Berk and his DBC Tuning Staff are stand up guys. Used them for several after market installs, regular service, and also just had them clean my intake valves.

Definitely a great team over there!

I've swapped two clutches on my 335i. You can get your DMFW resurfaced by sending it to Clutchmaster's ($50 round trip). I had it done locally once and they F'd it up. Def send to CM.

Also, why the 335is clutch? You do know the 2009 and newer DMFW are 6 bolt vs your 8 bolt. AFAIK, the actual clutch disks and PP are equivalent. The only performance advantage is using the 1M DMFW which is lighter, but requires a 6-bolt crank which your car doesn't have.

I'd recommend the Spec 2+. Feels like stock but holds way more (and more than the ACT street disc I had which ended up slipping too).

The 335is clutch is the same as the 550i clutch. It has a stronger pressure plate.

335is clutch is $385ish from ecstuning, spec clutch+flywheel kit is $1200, both plus shipping, I got a kid due in June and would like to keep costs low, so if I can get away with resurfacing my stock flywheel, I will, if I have to buy a brand new flywheel, I will, but I'd like to know either way

Main reason I'm goin with the 335is kit is price, not performance. I just need the clutch and pp, not flywheel, I'll get another stock 1 if need be.. I have an 07 335i btw

I would just get a spec 2+ and keep stock DMFW for about $700. You won't have to worry about another slipping clutch.
