Just run a race

11k trail race with pretty "extreme" terrain and hills.

15th out of 120 (10th last year) but beat my time by 20 seconds - a lot of very serious club runners this year.

Not too bad but legs now wobbly. Not really a "proper" runner but seem to get roped into a few races a year.

ss - guess you must be an officer (judging by the recent car order... ;-) ) and guessing by your age that you're either a Major or a Lt Col?

Good work!

Nearly took the plunge myself - went Army barmy (OTC at Uni, endless training runs, etc) did a POC and an AIB - passed both but decided to pursue a career in civvy street in the end.

Roger - if it's any consolation, a fairly large part of my toe (next to big toe) is still hanging off after a blister burst from the run - DOH! I had taped it up too.

Used to beach run a lot when doing Surf Life Saving races/training - it's pretty intense.

Thats good going, did my first Half Marathon in March and im doing the Great North Run in September for Asthma UK, Actually quite like running nothing beats running 13 miles then seeing the '400m' to go sign

i also lost 30 pounds in 8 weeks training for the Half marathon, hopefully going to do a full one next year

E90 - good going!

TBH my build and running style doesn't really suit longer distances and I only road run when the trails get stupidly muddy but muchos respectos for anyone that does do the bigger runs.

Had two 5th places (one out of 700, one out of 130 but more serious runners) - aim to beat this at some stage. Hard to beat set times as each trail run varies so much.

I want to do a trail run some time there is a crazy one by me each year which includes going through water and over fences etc..

my dream would be to do a Olympic distance triathlon but it takes serious dedication and somewhere to swim!!! I don't think the cycling and running would be a problem and I wouldn't aim to win but would like to say I've done it

I did my first off road tri last year in South Devon - 500m open swim, 10 mile MTB ride (very technical terrain) then a pretty arduous 4 mile coastal run.

Really enjoyed the event but sadly it's not being run again this year!

The run last week included jumping over fallen trees, fording streams, running up 116 steps, four evil hills. One of the hardest I know of in terms if terrain.

Ha Ha ...no mate i work for a living I'm a SNCO and have served for 15 years - its surprising how much money you find in your bank account when you've been away from home for 6 months at a time in places with no shops or pubs etc

Off again next March....at this rate i'll end up in a 430 Scuderia (or a wheelchair)
