Back story:
Boat docked July 5th. Other people from the same boat and in the same neighborhood as me (not same dealer) already have their cars. I decided to have my dealer do the tints on my car. I'm starting to worry about something going wrong at VPC or at the dealer since: 1) I was told to expect delivery this weekend 2) I called on Tuesday asking about some minor financing questions and have not gotten a call back 3) I am not getting delivery this weekend My question is: How long does it take to get tints done, because I think that may be adding time. Any help is very very appreciated. edit: I'm a newbie. This is my first car and my first time getting tints. this may be the wrong forum, so I'm sorry if I led anyone on...but again any help is appreciated... |

Here is my Titanium Silver coupe with Huper Optik 30 on every window except for the windshield. I will try to take some in the sun if it shows itself here in Atlanta at some point. All of these photos are within 10 to 30 minutes of the tint being applied so the next set will definitely be more representative of how the job will look over time. Oh, and I know I need to wash it...I will! It has been rained on every darn day for the last week!
Also, there are some photos that show the car in the parking garage, giving you an idea how much you can see in through the windows when in different lighting. They are quite easy to see through in the garage but when outside today (very cloudy day) it was very difficult to see into the car at all. Outward vision is excellent at all times...in fact, from the driver's seat, I can barely even tell that there is anything different about the car. Last edited by JNMACE; 07-23-2007 at 09:00 PM.. |

Thanks for the compliments...I really have hated the 197's since the day I knew I was getting the car but no one wanted to trade...ah well! The Huper Optik is a ceramic tint. I love how it looks during the day but wish it offered a little more privacy at night. It is nearly transparent just in the garage and on the street at night it is as if it isn't there. I like that in many respects but sometimes, like when the moron in the sport utility next to me has his face all in the car, I'd like it to have more of an effect. This is only an issue at night though...during the day it is pretty darned awesome and that is what I bought it for. |

Yeah, but as you can see they did a better job at getting it to stick to the dot matrix area than on many coupes I've seen. It is just on that one little section...I have an appointment to have it repressed on Monday so hopefully it will be perfect once they do it.

They are probably going to pull my HO tint tomorrow unless I change my mind and deal with the CA working sporadically and I might go with a 20% on my windows too. |

Hey guys. I have a Jet Black E90 w/ a Beige Leatherette Interior. I want a ceramic tint like F1 but I'm trying to decide on the percentage. I want something that isn't too dark or too light. I want to be able to see at night w/o rolling down my windows when i'm backing up like some of my friends have to do. I'm thinking 35% all around except the windshield but is that going to be too light on a Beige interior? I think it looks perfect on a black interior.
And anyone know any good tint shops in the chicago western suburbs? |

Had my 2008 AW 335i coupe tinted yesterday
I did a little mixing on my tint. F1 Pinnacle Series 35% all around. The windshield is HO 50%. Thought I would get more heat rejection thru the windshield, yet maintain more transparency. Went for a drive last night; no problem seeing thru the tint on the windshield.
I am very pleased with the installation; however like many have reported, you can see that at the upper end of the back window the dot matrix coverage is not perfect. Had it done at Advanced Film Solutions in New Port Richey on SR 54. |

Bumping this thread with some old pics from last summer.
Front is 38% and rear is OEM sun protection glass (aka dark glass/privacy glass)
