Nah, that'll buff out no prob. My friend's cousin's uncle's brother had the same thing...a weekend of buffing and good to go.

So wait, were you driving the car at the time it hit the corner of the truck, or had you jumped out at that point and the car hit the truck all by itself under it's own volition?

Glad you and your passenger are okay, but it sounds like you crashed it.

This

Pretty much market value of the car vs repair costs, there is a chance repair costs may be lower? I wouldn't bother with fixing it though looking at future problems

Glad everyone is ok! sorry about the car :[

If there is any frame damage it is totaled... If the cost of repairs is greater than the appraised market value it is totaled... If the car requires an integrity mechanical inspection for safety and electrical components and its not totaled get rid of it... It's not worth fixing... It will never run or feel the same both in actuality and in your mind...

OP here. It's been two weeks since the accident. GEICO thinks the car is repairable. I will let update with the total costs to repair when I have that information. The Blue Book is $33,000 and repairs are thus far estimated at $17,000.

The fluid leaks are all coming from the broken radiator -- transmission fluid and water. No engine leak fortunately.

Anyway, I'll let you all know how I fare out of this. I do hope it's fixable actually and would rather it not be totaled. I could not afford to replace this car new and don't want to go the used route.

Thanks all for your replies thus far.

You would be far better off with a used uncrashed one than one that has that much damages.

FYI, insurance company initial estimate is always way way low - bet it will 25k+ when they are done!

Also fight for diminished vale as it won't be worth near book after that much damage.

Where did you take the car to be repaired? If you have a cert BMW Repair shop that est will go +++. I hit a deer with a crimson e90 and had about 10k in dmg. That was just to paint, replace hood, bumper, xenon light, intake, and rad.

Sounds like you had alot more dmg and this should be totaled esp with airbag deployment.

If you were not at fault try for diminished value through the other part's insurance. Once a car has "Airbag Deployment" your resale value is about as credible as a Nigerian lottery winner email.

GL because the car is worth next to nothing now IMO.

OP here. Well, it's official -- GIECO officially considered the car "totaled." Damages are estimated at $32,000 and the car's Blue Book value is $33,000.

I guess this means goodbye all! It's been fun.

I plan on driving my "beater" Dodge truck until the new 4-series comes out later this year. I see a 4-series coupe in my future.

I hear you. I'm actually breathing a sigh of relief here now. I cannot think of anything more wretched than owning an E93 with a jacked up roof.
