engine knocking

my engine has been making a knocking noise lately. it sounds like pin knocks. from my knowledge if your put regular gas in, the engine will make knocking noise in the summer. Does anyone know what this could be??

Yes ur knocking from the low octane gas ..you answered ur question..use 93..

How many miles do you have?..that could be a sign that u have carbon deposits on ur pistons and intake valves..n its worst in the summer

its retarding timing to accommodate the low octane gas, which is very bad for our engine. Better off using 89 and up.

Valves would be a ticking noise and happens even when the car is idling..what u have does sound like knock and its prolly b/c your using low octance gas..

328? Can't tell on the mobile. If so, and if you're in warranty, get your valve lifters swapped at the dealer. Worked like a charm for me, and I always fill up with v-power

Does the sound go away after you drive it for a while? After they sit for a for a few days, they'll the lifters will start ticking. It should go away after a while.

mine will tick sometimes in the morning but after about a 10 min drive it goes away I wouldnt worry to much about it...all gas engines make a tap, click, or a clatter of some sort

Then it's totally normal. I'm not sure why they do it, but if they sit, they start ticking. Drive it for a few minutes and it goes away.
