Hailed on my car.

It hailed here where I live last night. It was a freak January severe thunderstorm. Came out of nowhere. 81 mph winds. Temperature dropped from 55 to 25 degrees in 15 minutes. I was getting some Arby's and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot it started hailing. The wind made it sound worse than it was, but the hail was probably about the size of a pea or less. Maybe lasted for a minute or two.

Anyway, didn't see any damage on the car today but I was pretty convinced that the size of the hail was too small to affect anything anyway. Just sickening to hear the noise... Although, it gets scary when the BMW orange peel paint starts playing tricks with my mind when checking the car for damage.

You guys think it is okay?

It should be fine. My hail storm hit in July when it went from 90 to 40 in about 4 minutes. Golf ball size hail, ended up with about 5 small dings, you can only notice one and the total to fix would be about $600.

Thanks. Yeah once the car was clean I was able to tell that there was no hail damage. Just BMW orange peel paint, as usual.

When I had my e46 I got caught in a huge hail storm on the interstate in Nashville (When tornadoes came through). They were at least golf ball sized and it literally sounded like my car was just going to be full of massive holes. I can't even begin to describe how loud it was. Long story short, the car made it through without a single ding.

I actually haven't thought about that since it happened. Oh well, glad you made it out ok!

Thanks man! That feeling of helplessness as your car is getting crapped on is pretty sickening.

I know the feeling, it really sucks. If your on the highway head for the nearest underpass and hide until it passes. Nothing worse than hail and you driving 80mph into it.....broken everything.
