Not "tampered" but miles in CAS and cluster don't match.
With ignition off press the trip reset button, you'll see the miles that are in cluster.

Did you open up the box to your DME yet and do a visual inspection of the wires, module and the handful of fuses in there..?


This video shows you how to get to the DME, very simple.

I had something like this try to replace with used Junction BOX from donor car the part number of them almost all different but you have to replace it with same or newer version than your car is it will work from 1er and 3er models no matter what engine.

It is located under fuse box. Also inspect your positive battery cable as it can change color in that case you have to replace it.
