So after some researching, I have it down to these two options. I'm sticking with OEM rotors because I've heard noise problems with aftermarket rotors. Should I go with OEM brake pads or Hawk HPS? I want ZERO NOISE (not even a little bit of squealing when freezing cold). I want close to OEM performance, which many say the HPS provide. And I want less than OEM brake dust... However, if the HPS is noisy at all, I don't want them. So, owners of Hawk HPS chime in...... And comment if you have any other suggestions based on my criteria. Thanks

I have ran Hawk HPS on my Van and NSX (don't see much track). Don't like them period.

They offer similar braking performance to the OEM but doesn't have the initial bite like the OEM. The pedal feel is also not as authoritative as other performance pads i have used. Of course, this depends on what kind of driver you're like and what you're looking for in braking performance. I quite like the immediacy of the OEM over the more linear feel of the HPS. You really have to step a bit harder on the HPS for the brakes to come in. But once its there, it is on par or even better than the OEM. Both have no noise if installed correctly.

The only obvious good thing about the HPS is that it does dust quite a bit less when compared to the OEM.

Given the choice, i'd go OEM.

PS, rotors usually don't make a difference in terms of noise. If you're going for looks, than by all means don't worry about slotted or drilled rotors. They will not make a difference unless you track. For just day to day driving, all rotors should be the same. (with drilled or slotted probably not as good as blanks because they have less friction surface) Cheers!

Thanks for the reply.. Out of all the brake setups you've had, what do you recommend based on least noise, OEM-like braking, least dust, and best looking? Cross drilled with OEM pads? I can't decide, there are so many options.

Slotted will FOR SURE create MASSIVE dusting. So don't go with that if brake dust is a big concern. But then again, for aesthetics its your personal choice to go with blanks, slotted, drilled, or slotted and drilled. Just wash your car more often or get gunmetal/black wheels lol.

As i have mentioned, all of them drives the same on the street with the blanks being at a slight disadvantage for withstanding heat and water (rain). Probably not going to be noticable at all.

Drilled ones tend to crack and warp faster after a while, if you don't drive hard and brake hard constantly then it should last just the same. The only disadvantage is that you'll have to adjust to stepping a little bit harder on the brake pedal with the HPS since it not as good as the OEM for initial bite. To compensate for that you can switch to better brake lines and fluids. Again, won't make much difference but every little bit counts for brake feel! Good luck!

Alright I'll stick with OEM blank rotors. Did you have any kind of brake squealing problem with the HPS??

Seems like a trade off between initial bite and brake dust and that's it..

Given the choice between Hawk HPS pads and factory pads I'd take the HPS. The initial bite will be different from the factory pads but over all brake feel to me is improved. You'll also benefit from the HPS compound which is very very difficult to over heat on the street, where I've faded genuine BMW pads quiet a few times on twisty back roads.
