2010 LCI 325D - Looking to buy :)
Hi All,
Well after owning two 3.2 V6 TT's I am unfortunately having to move towards a diesel due to a considerable increase in my mileage. I was originally looking at a 320d....but I simply cant do it. Therefore I am looking at the 6 cylinder cars. I have decided against a 335d as it seems the fuel economy suffers considerably leaving me to chose between a 325d/330d. My research tells me that as of 2010 the 325d now shares the same engine as the 330d with performance only being restricted by the engines map and both engines should remap to the same kind of power output? Is this correct? Secondly, could anyone tell me if the 325d/330d brake setup is the same or does the 330d have larger discs etc? Thanks, Russ |

everything is answered on this thread. Answer to remapping is yes. Answer to brakes is no.

Thanks for the link. That is a really helpful thread.
Do you know how realistic it would be to upgrade the 325's brakes to the 330/335 setup? |

I'll be honest I think the 335d is way out on fuel we run one at work and on the motorway you struggle to get over 40 where as my 330d will do 52 motorway mixed with traffic jams not sure on the 325 but it should be similiar or better.

Iv had a high mileage 335d and now own a low mileage 330d both pre lci on 56 plates
The 335d achieved same mpg as my 330d is now with easily achieving 40mpg plus on steady motorway runs Lower mpg from either engine suggests thermostat being faulty etc as a start I just got back from a 220 mile trip and reset the mpg before i left, was on 47mpg when i got home. Maybe looking to sell mine if interested but not lci Regards |

Its the same engine at the end of the day. Driven at 70/80mph they will acheive similar mpg (assuming both cars are operting correctly) I had an old fabia vrs years ago (standard tune - 130bhp) My friend had a 220bhp tuned fabia vrs. On the same trip in my stock car (over 400miles) i acheived 53mpg. My friend with almost double the bhp acheived 56mpg. Its the core lump not the bhp. Tuned diesels dont use a great deal of fuel. All the 6cylinder 3.0l d will be around the same unless hooning it. If mpg is of importance you need a lowly 320d (like myself) |
