Never f**king privately shipping wheels again

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Couldnt be there to over see the shipping of my iForged wheels to a member in Nor Cal since I had an operation and Im bedridden. But, I got a call from my mom who said that they packaged everything properly and blah blah........yea well, to ship some f**king wheels/tires just up north a few hours ended up costing $450. That f**king rediculous and I ADVISE YOU NOT TO SHIP WHEELS/TIRES when selling them, do LOCAL PICKUPS ONLY. Especially since people sit here on e90post and try to low ball you all day long anyway with the ALREADY low prices you set. Rant over. Advisory thread, over.

yea dude, I've shipped 19" wheels and tires cross country and it came no near that price. It was actually about $120 from maryland to california. You have to ship each wheel/tire individually and slap on circular cardboard to the front and back.

your mom probably shipped them overnight or something. Shipping for wheels should come nowhere near that price.

Your mom got ripped off.

I have shipped at least 6 sets of wheels/tires in the past 5 years. Costs the most $140 for me and thats for heavy 19s with tires.

How did they ship the wheels? $450 is a lot of money to ship wheels!?! BTW, I hope everything is going well with your recovery.

it's gotta be one of those privately owned 3rd party shipping shop......where they charge $0.75 for a regular U.S. postal stamp.

and.....$2 per a sheet for fax

i shipped a book about the same size and weight as a magazine....and it cost me $17(included the price of the envelope too).......regular mail.

now...i use USPS....the cheapest way to go with small items.....

we took them to mail boxes ect. since fedex didnt have boxes big enough, and they packaged everything one wheel/tire per box, with bubble wrap and packing materials. I got very upset when my mom told me how much it was, even though she agreed to cover the charges, she shouldnt have to and that still pisses me off. Lets do the math (rounded up and down to make things easier) each wheel is about 25lbs, plus a 25lbs tire, with about 30lbs of air in it, meaning each wheel/tire was about 80lbs and about 22x22. Thats a total of 320lbs!!! Does it make sense now?

again, like i said, i've been TOTALLY bedridden since wensday and still have to remain in bed until this upcoming wensday....constantly feeling sick, pressure on my face, along with having to wake up every 12am,6am,12pm,6pm to take antibiotics and im sick to my stomach with all this Tylenol 3 and Darvocet.......so I couldnt be there to over see the shipping.

im going to have my mom go back and tell the guy that either they're crazy, they've made a mistake, or that she wants the packages back and to be charged only for the materials. Lets hope they havent sent anything out yet, it is sunday.

I don't see how that's possible.

I shipped the stock 18s out thru Fedex the other day for about $140 (not including box costs) to NorCal via FedEx. The packages were dropped off at FedEx so there was no markup.
